REVIEW: 2020 Volvo XC90 T8 facelift tested in Malaysia

The facelifted Volvo XC90 range was recently introduced in Malaysia, and buyers get to choose between the entry-level T5 Momentum at RM373,888, T8 Twin Engine Inscription at RM399,888, and the T8 Twin Engine Inscription Plus at RM409,888. Those prices are the same as before, and while it may not look like it, the bulk of the upgrades take place beneath the skin.

All three models are powered by the automaker’s 2.0 litre four-cylinder Drive-E engine, but T8 plug-in hybrid models gain an extra supercharger and electric motor to boost output to 407 hp and 640 Nm of torque. The base T5 gets 254 hp and 350 Nm of torque from the turbocharged mill, though all variants get an eight-speed Aisin-sourced automatic transmission and all-wheel drive.

Notable upgrades for the T8 PHEV include the fitment of a larger 11.6 kWh lithium-ion battery, which bumps the pure electric driving range to 50 km, as well as the much-improved brake-by-wire system with advanced battery charging.

Elsewhere, the car gets a new radiator grille design, additional chrome accents, new 20-inch wheels, fancier Orrefors crystal gear knob, and the Tailored Instrument Panel. Safety is also upgraded – the City Safety and Blind Spot Info Systems both gain steering assist. So, what do you think of the XC90 facelift?

      Himmy,

Thanks for the fake news, seen so many rich buyers in Malaysia loving and owning XC90 except you.

Moreover , it is Europe second best selling luxury large SUV outbeat even the Mercedes GLE, Audi A7, Range Rover Velag .

Stop living under a coconut tree, please do travel further away from Malaysia instead of only ASEAN and Asia . You will realised that Europe is indeed more high tech, more advanced , more discipline and more organised than our third world Malaysia mentalities and infra structures except Singapore .

      Cheers then

Observing a lot of Fake news started from Himmy till now Himmy2

I would like to add further

1)Hardly see any Audi Q5, A6 and A4 nowadays. Yet to see any Q7 and Q8 on the road

          2) Is Audi Brand death ?

          3) if not Audi is so underrated too which is of the same standard as VW, SEAT and SKODA..

          and

          4) Same goes for Mercedes GLE ( hardly see any new one on the road yet)

I love the X70, but it’s not a Volvo. It’s not based on any Volvo model, nor does it have a Volvo engine or gearbox. The X50 is an entirely different story though.

    It’s 100% growth from selling 1 unit to 2 unit…
when giving statistical data, this kind of “fast growth” is just a marketing gimmick..

I stopped the video 20 seconds in. The presenter is slurring so badly. The Team at Paultan.org should consider captioning videos. On a related note, since this generation is 5 years in does anyone know when the next major facelift will happen?
