MBSJ has announced that a part of Jalan Kemajuan Subang and Jalan SS16/1 will be closed to traffic every first Sunday of the month. The closure will be from 6am to 11.30am, and will start on November 6, which is the first Sunday of this month.

According to the Subang Jaya city council, the portion of Jalan Kemajuan Subang that will be fully closed is from Persimpangan Jengka to Persimpangan Persiaran Kemajuan, while there will be a lane closure on Jalan SS16/1, from Persimpangan Kemajuan to Persiaran Jengka. Basically, it’s from Mesiniaga to the end of Subang Parade – see the map above.

The road closure is for the Program Selamat Pagi Subang Jaya: Hari Tanpa Kenderaan MBSJ, which is a car-free initiative much like the KL Car Free Morning in Kuala Lumpur, although this is just one road (KLCFM is a 7km circuit) It’s part of the council’s efforts to transform Subang Jaya into a low carbon city, MBSJ says.

Subang folks, here’s your chance to bring the kids and roam the streets safely. There seems to be plenty of activities planned along Jalan Kemajuan – the map above shows things such as street soccer and archery, with food trucks on standby, of course. So perhaps it’ll have a different feel from KLCFM, which is basically just an open circuit for running, cycling and skating. Have fun!

This mbsj is just looking for cheap publicity. First with their 2 hours parking and now this. That place is no bukit bintang.

Mbsj should widen and lengthen all the left-turn filter lanes at all the affected traffic junctions so as to relieve the jams throughout the day and especially during peak hours. I notice there are ample roadside land to lengthen and widen the left-turn filter lanes.

Great effort but where can we park our cars?? Any special gazetted area to park cars if we bring kids and need to carry bikes?

It’s a very stupid idea to close the road for an event that is backdated. If MBSJ wants to be environment friendly than think out of the box to come up with an innovative event. Let the Subang residents give their ideas and win some prizes. Compile this proposals and MBSJ would be creative. Don’t make the public face inconveniences, people will curse and swear.
