According to a report by Autonetmagz, BYD will accelerate the construction of its automotive assembly plant in Indonesia, which will be built on around 100 hectares of land in the Subang Smartpolitan Industrial Area in West Java.
The facility was previously planned to start operations in early 2026, but this has now been brought forward to the fourth quarter of 2025. BYD is also looking to increase production capacity to meet domestic and export demand, while also developing a wider infrastructure to support the electric vehicle (EV) ecosystem in the country.
The BYD plant is estimated to create about 8,700 jobs but with the expansion of production capacity, it is expected that over 18,000 new opportunities will be created in various sectors. The plant also opens up the opportunity for other electrified vehicles to be developing, including plug-in hybrids. At present, BYD only sells EVs in Indonesia, namely, the Seal, Atto 3, Dolphin and M6.
In early 2025, BYD will launch its Denza premium sub-brand, although it wasn’t revealed which will be the first model to go on sale in Indonesia. Denza has also been confirmed for Malaysia, with the D9 MPV set to be launched in the first quarter of 2025.

2. Supply chain including mineral. It is a must have resources to produce Battery
3. It is a strategic partner/deal between China and Indonesia governments because of #2 above.
