Volkswagen Passat CC – V-Dub’s own CLS

Volkswagen Passat CC

The new Volkswagen Passat CC made its debut at the 2008 Detroit Auto Show. It is a 4-door sedan based on the Volkswagen Passat platform, but with a different body styling which has a much more sportier, sleeker roofline, intended to give the car a 4-door coupe look ala the Mercedes Benz CLS. The new Passat CC is 50mm lower to the ground compared to the standard Passat, and is 30mm longer.

The new Volkswagen Passat CC will have the new 1.8 liter TSI inline-4 with 160 horsepower as one of its engine options, and the top of the line will be a 300 horsepower 3.6 liter V6 FSI engine. The venerable 2.0 liter TFSI from the Audi A4 and the Golf GTI will also join the lineup later.

It features a few technologies such as Dynamic Drive Control, which adjusts the suspension damping and power steering assistance characteristics to suit the driving pattern. Another feature is Park Assist, which is a self parking system where the Passat CC takes care of steering control and the driver only has to accelerate and brake to ease the car into a parking spot. ACC Automatic Distance Control automatically brakes and accelerates within a speed range input by the car driver, and also avoids frontal collisions using a radar sensor.

The new Volkswagen Passat CC is targeted at the North American, Western European and Japanese markets. It will make its first debut in Q2 2008.

It does have the CLS glass line and silhoutte image..especially in d 3 quarter view (Driver towards rear portion)…but i personally think that the CLS has more emotional feeling and flow that really compelements the car beautifully ..and its more sexy!… For the Vee Dub’s….mmm…the interior looks great though…

very good effort by VW.the standard passat’s back is too squarish and the tail lights are not attractive.this one is much better.is it a strict 4 seater? wonder what the price would be in malaysia if it comes.I test drove the standard passat…very good ride and power.for the price(230K) it is a good buy if you can see past the badge( 3 series,C class are so much smaller in dimensions and specs but have a higher market perception)

VW is overpriced in malaysia. definitely not yet in the league of bmw, or mercedes, or even audi. i’ve been in both a golf and passat, and surprisingly, saw some glaring quality issues in the cabin that would not be acceptable in the other 3 brands i’ve just mentioned.

Beautiful. This prove that even big car company sometimes copy from others. Most malaysian can’t afford this or the CLS. We can only hope Proton copy this one for the Perdana replacement.

At first read, with the CC suffix, I thought this is a new hardtop, 4 door 4 seat, coupe/convertible from VW. lol

    Nice looking car.

that will be great if perdana looks like that

    this passat looks impressive
but if it wants to compete with CLS the engine is quite small
    except the 3.6
passat cc 3.6 vs cls350 i may take the passat

They call this a 4-door sedan. ‘Sedans’ are looking more and more like hatchbacks nowadays.

woah……good thing i gave the passat a pass….otherwise i’d end up with the current version….hehe….but it is still a very nice and good looking car…..and a deutsch gemacht…

the interior still looks very much like the current version. the picture shows the ‘elegant’ interior with the simulated wood finishes.

bet it still has the electronic push button park brake on the dashboard.

Pheewiiit…!!!! (as if would Amy Search said)… and now I’ve gotta choose between a Camry or a Passat… anyone care for an opinion?

  30. KL-ATR said,

This is the most beautiful VW sedan ever! This is one Passat I don’t mind owning. Lots of reviewers have accused them of copying the CLS but other than the rear C section, the rest looks rather unique.

Would this mean they will CC the Phaeton??? Heck, there’s probably a prototype in Germany now as we speak!

  40. s60t said,

Unfortunately the price difference in Malaysia is significant. A 2.4L Camry costs around 170K vs Passat at around 230K due to CBU taxes. In the other countries the cars are considered rivals in price and size. In Malaysia the camry would make more sense financially but is becoming such a common sight. the passat would be more noticeable and way more powerful since it uses the golf GTi engine.

  41. longjaafar said,

    January 31, 2008 @ 9:07 am

If this is brought into Malaysia, it will give the 3 series , the C class and Audi A4 a run for their money. What it lacks in driving dynamics, it will compensate with it’s beautiful shape, build quality, and reliability. If it is to be priced at the ordinary Passat price, then it will also be cheaper than the other three. Hopefully VW Malaysia is smart enough to take advantage of the situation.

  42. BanyakMasukWorkshop said,

    January 31, 2008 @ 11:24 am

i still doubt VW’s ability to make any sort of dent in the sales of bmw, mercedes and audi. their sales have been pretty poor so far, with the majority of cars sold being Gti’s. Any VW at over 200k in malaysia will find the going tough, the vw badge just doesnt have enough ’snob’ appeal that people want in a car at those prices.

  43. lembagatanah said,

    January 31, 2008 @ 3:17 pm

great design. comparable to0 407. price it right and it would probably boom in malaysia
