The Bentley Bentayga has been spied again, this time showing up at the Nurburgring and wearing very little disguise as it inches ever closer to production. Crewe’s first ever off-roader will debut later this year, with sales beginning in 2016.
First showcased as a study in the form of the EXP 9 F concept in 2012, the Bentayga is underpinned by the Volkswagen Group’s MLB Evo platform as seen on the new second-gen Audi Q7. Powertrains haven’t been officially revealed, but should mirror that announced for the EXP 9 F, led by the 616 hp and 800 Nm 6.0 litre twin-turbo W12 engine from the Flying Spur.
The 507 hp and 660 Nm Audi-sourced 4.0 litre twin-turbo V8 seen on the Continental GT V8 is also expected to feature, and there was word earlier that a V6 plug-in hybrid variant is due sometime in 2017. Word is too that that the SUV will be built at the group’s Bratislava plant in Slovakia, which also assembles the Q7, VW Touareg and Porsche Cayenne.
Bentley says that its “sector-defining SUV” will be able to introduce the brand’s “modern British luxury to limitless destinations with an impressive combination of on and off road performance,” and has teased that opulence through a video showing off bits of the plush interior.

Can’t decide if it’s unique or ugly….so uniquely ugly!
Headlights looks like a posher version of those used in the current Range Rover. Google that and see for yourself.
They’re probably placeholders, though. It doesn’t make sense for Bentley to depart from the 4-eyed look of their modern cars.
Based on this light disguise, I think the Porsche Chayenne looks better. But will reserve judgement until the full monty reveal.
If come to Malaysia, it may be called Mentega.
