Porsche Cayenne Turbo S – 570 hp, 800 Nm beast

Cayenne Turbo S-01

Porsche brought the new Cayenne Turbo S to the 2015 Detroit show alongside the new 911 Targa 4 GTS. Just like in the 911 range, the Turbo S is the top variant in the Cayenne family.

The top dog is powered by a re-engineered 4.8 litre V8 biturbo engine that now develops 570 hp and 800 Nm of torque. That’s 20 hp and 50 Nm more than before, propelling the big Porsche from 0 to 100 km/h in just 4.1 seconds, four tenths faster. Top speed is now 284 km/h. The integral turbochargers are now housed directly in the exhaust manifolds for better response and improved combustion.

Power is nothing without control, they say, and the new Cayenne Turbo S has control. It can lap the North Loop of the Nurburgring in 7:59.74 minutes, which is a new record for SUVs on the famed circuit.

Standard PCCB ceramic brakes include 420 mm front brake discs and, for the first time, ten-piston calipers. Yes, ten. The rear brakes have 370 mm discs and four-piston calipers. Porsche Dynamic Chassis Control (PDCC) active roll stabilisation, Porsche Torque Vectoring Plus and Porsche Traction Management (PTM) all join hands for the magic show.

Standard features include 21-inch wheels in distinctive 911 Turbo design, LED headlights including Porsche Dynamic Light System Plus and full-leather interior with Porsche logo embossed on all head restraints. Visual accents include gloss black air inlet surrounds, the undersides of the door mirrors in the same colour and body colour roof spoiler and wheel arch mouldings. A sport exhaust system with switchable sound symposer is optional.

The Porsche Cayenne Turbo S will be launched in Germany in the second quarter of 2015.

I just dont find the cayenne design any good. It looks dated and clumsy the first day it was launched.

      Better off getting something else

I’m never a fan of SUV except for the ultra safe XC90. The Cayenne too, i’ll make an exception, goes like stink on a straight line. Sat in the current MK2 GTS model. PErfect Friday night cruising machine.
