Suzuki Swift facelift final prices revealed: RM58k-74k

Suzuki Malaysia Automobile (SMA) has released finalised prices for the facelifted Suzuki Swift (which is still only available for booking) – the updated version of the company’s most popular vehicle will be a hair cheaper than before.

The bargain basement GA kicks off the new range, priced at RM58,227 on-the-road without insurance; before this, it had an indicative price tag of around RM59k. Elsewhere, the existing GL and GLX trims now cost RM100 less than their predecessors; the former retails at RM65,788, the latter at RM73,688. Metallic paint remains a RM500 option except on the GA, which is strangely only available in metallic Bayside Blue.

Powered by the same K14B 1.4 litre VVT four-cylinder engine with 95 PS and 130 Nm, mated to a four-speed automatic gearbox, the Swift gets only minor updates this time around, with a reprofiled front bumper and an LED high-mounted third brake light.

Taking over from the pre-facelift GL, the base GA gets 15-inch steel wheels (with plastic covers, 175/65 tyres) and unpainted door handles and wing mirror caps. Inside, it’s even more basic, with no radio, driver’s seat height adjustment, seat back pockets or even a spare tyre (only a tyre repair kit), and the door mirrors can only be adjusted manually.

What you do get as standard are air-conditioning, all-round power windows, a fuel consumption gauge (instantaneous and average), ABS with EBD, Isofix child seat anchors and dual airbags (the old GL had just one airbag).

The new GL is where it starts for most buyers, with 16-inch alloys shod in 185/55 rubber, body-coloured door handles and wing mirrors, a space-saving spare tyre, a four-speaker factory radio with USB, power-adjustable wing mirrors and a more comprehensive trip computer that adds on range, outside temperature and gear position. Also in are chrome door pulls, a driver’s seat height adjuster and one seat back pocket.

The GLX throws in quite a bit more. From the outside, LED daytime running lights and fog lights are obvious cues, along with new double five-spoke 16-inch wheels that look sportier than the GL’s multi-spoke items. The wing mirror have turn signals and can be electrically folded. Safety-wise, the GLX gets rear disc brakes and front seatbelts with pretensioners and force limiters.

In terms of equipment, the GLX receives a leather-wrapped steering wheel with audio buttons and telescopic adjustment, keyless entry and push-button start, auto climate control and a touchscreen navigation system with Bluetooth and two extra tweeters to make it six speakers in total. GL and GLX buyers can choose from five colours – Bayside Blue, Supreme Red, Superior White, Olive Grey and a new Lagoon Turquoise.

This car got VSC or not? In Europe VSC is compulsory on all cars, that is how important VSC is.

If this car got no VSC, it can join the Toyota Moving Coffin brand

I work for SMA. This car can even be RM40k but MITI tells no way they can sell at that price to protect Proton, the blood sucking company. So, we must pay about RM70k for a good spec car.

Everything depends on MITI and Proton. How long want to protect Proton?

Why buy at this price when you can buy it as a proton soon at a cheaper price, right?

  • How 16km/litre fuel consumption can be said high fuel consumption? Despite it only 1.4 but can easily tapau 1.5 NA cars acceleration including the new vios except the new city.real life 0-100 kmh acceleration with OD button off is less than 12 sec. You can’t go wrong with its new engine. Very tricky to say iriz have better handling than a swift which swift really feels like a gokart when attacking corners and hold the roads at high speed.

    • 1. 16km/L is way too ambitious.
but FC sure better than Iriz.

      2. Tapau??
u talk about Tapau with Suzuki Swift 1.4N.A?
      again, too ambitious.
but better engine than Iriz? yes.

      3. Handling..
      Again, too ambitious.
Handling of Suzuki swift is like go-kart only if it is the Suzuki Swift Sport.
Better than Iriz, yes. At least in terms of durability of suspension system.

    It’s a car…normal car.

Fc is bearable, speed, handling, street drive, rigidity, aircond, tyres, airbags.

Satisfying some keyboard warrior here, almost good as Toyota n P1; same function as German engineering, Italian horse and American an muscle.

This is not GTR nor battle tank.
U pay wat u get. Slight better option than Myvi bcos of safety rating.

Like or Dislike: Thumb up 1 Thumb down 0
  • Not that too ambitious. Its just this new 1.4 engines accelerates faster than old 1.5 swift.but at slightly lower top speed. Only after 170 the vios can tapau this car after lagging far behind. I don’t know how Suzuki tuned it. However this car slower than new jazz. Even iriz slower than jazz from zero to top speed.
