Mazda Canada released this cheeky video clip showing how, against all odds, the Mazda MX-5 can out drag a Lamborghini Gallardo, Porsche 911, Chevrolet Corvette, Ford Mustang and a Lotus Elise. It does so on its own terms of course, but it makes for an enjoyable watch anyway.
The race was supposed to be one between the world’s fastest convertibles (don’t ask us why the Lotus is on the guest list), and the tiny Mazda turned up uninvited. Also making an unwelcome appearance was rain, and the MX-5’s quick three-piece folding hardtop more than made up for its performance deficit.
So remember convertible supercar owners: the next time you feel like racing a hapless Mazda MX-5, make sure it’s not about to rain. Or you know, just keep your roof up. This is Malaysia; it’s hot enough with the air con on full blast.

Those bigger and more powerful sports car should just be thankful that Mazda didn’t brought the 1st gen MX-5 as the 1st gen MX-5’s roof can be pulled up by hand manually. Could leave the rest earlier LOL.

It’s aimed at ridiculing the lotus fully because it’s actually a direct competitor for the mx5, both being lightweight and compact with no turboes or massive v engines
