Long-awaited by roadster fans, Mazda has released a TV commercial that might accurately depict what every MX-5 owner secretly does when they take their brand new MX-5 out for a trip to the grocery store. Titled #ReasonsToDrive, it makes perfect sense.
While the label “weekend car” may be a tad overused, the Mazda MX-5 is a fun two-door vehicle for any day of the week, with a 2.0 litre SkyActiv-G petrol unit that makes 155 hp and 200 Nm of torque. That might not be a lot, but it still has the go to get the wind in your hair, that’s for sure.
Unfortunately there won’t be a close-ratio manual transmission paired to the Malaysian-specced ND MX-5, as it will be arriving with a six-speed SkyActiv-Drive auto shifter instead. Nevertheless, expect it to be a thrill to drive, especially when the MX-5 is out on the open road.
The ever-popular Jinba Ittai two-door convertible, which has just hit the Australian continent, priced at AUD$31,990 (RM92,411), is expected to be sold between the range of RM190k-210k over here.
Looking to sell your car? Sell it with Carro.
Cheaper than its predecessor but nope…can’t afford one as a weekend car so anyone care to donate me some money? =]
I COULD NOT AGREE MORE WITH YOU ! END CAP.
Cheap sport car come here become an expensive rich-man toy
It’s a shame that they will only bring the auto model here.
Every time there’s a MX-5 post on this blog, we all grumble about the same thing. I wonder how much Bermaz lost in potential sales from not bringing in the manual version – anyone here would actually book one if there’s manual spec?
Yummy, that leather/metal shifter is beautiful.
Honestly, I kinda prefer the Honda S660 exterior design (looks like a concept car just escaped from the Auto Show). But for interior, I like the MX-5 better (the little Honda is just too spartan inside – which is expected from a kei car). Too bad, there does not appear to be any possibility of that little Honda making it here.
Anyone own manual cars?
Me. I daily-drive a new manual car. And if I am capable of buying cars within MX-5 or GT86 price range, I would certainly do. Why?
Registered just to comment that I drive a manual. Daily.
So any manufacturers outthere reading this, please remember there’s still a market for manual equipped cars albeit a relatively small one.
