UMW Toyota has announced that it will be issuing a recall for a sole second-gen Lexus LX470 (J100) due to an issue relating to the affected vehicle’s side curtain airbags, which were supplied by Denso Corp. The recall is part of a global campaign that encompasses 320,000 Toyota and Lexus models from the 2003-2006 model years.
In an official statement, it was revealed that due to an improper programing of the airbag system in the airbag control module, the side curtain airbags may deploy and the seatbelt pre-tensioners activated under some conditions while the vehicle is stationary. According to Toyota, this can result in minor injury to occupants.
The defect in this case is unrelated to the Takata airbag recall from earlier. UMW Toyota said it will contact the owner of the vehicle to so that the proper remedial work can be carried out to address the issue. The company has been informed by the Toyota Motor Corporation (TMC) that no Toyota vehicles in Malaysia are affected by the recall, and stated that other Lexus models sold are not affected as well.
Looking to sell your car? Sell it with Carro.
Lexus Malaysia sold only 1 unit LX470 ever?
Will I be the sole commentator ever? haha
That person might have died so many times
What about the grey imports?
Makan sendiri la.. or drive all the way back to japan for the recall..
Hehehe.. There are a lot of recond imports of this model on our roads though
OMG!! I am the unlucky tailanngong that bought this defective car. Should have bought a saga instead
Is it possible that no other Toyota vehicles offered by UMW have side curtain airbags therefore no recall necessary? Hope my hybrid camry doesn’t get recalled anytime soon.
