Mercedes-AMG GT gets Stage 1 turbo upgrade from Renntech – power bumped up to 716 hp and 889 Nm

When asked what Renntech thought of the Brabus-tuned Mercedes-AMG GT, the company said “it’s cute.” Now, that may be a total fabrication, but considering the latest performance upgrades the Florida-based company has created for Affalterbach’s flagship sports car, we can totally see such a statement being made.

What Renntech has done is taken AMG’s 4.0 litre bi-turbo V8 engine from the Mercedes-AMG GT, and fettled with it a little. The tuner’s Stage 1 Turbo kit upgrades the turbochargers with lightweight billet compressor wheels, new compressor housings and larger impellers.

They are accompanied by the R1 Performance Package – stainless steel downpipes and high-flow air filters. The modifications, along with an ECU upgrade, brings the power output up to 716 hp and 889 Nm, eclipsing Brabus’ effort of 600 hp and 750 Nm. That should improve upon the stock car’s 0-100 km/h time of 3.8 seconds.

To keep things in check, Renntech has also developed a suspension upgrade kit featuring Renntech coil-over suspension and OEM dampers. It allows for full ride height adjustability, where the car’s ride height can be dropped by as much as 38 mm for the front and rear. Of course, all that power comes at a price – USD$11,880 (RM49,918) for the Stage 1 Turbo kit, while the suspension kit comes in at USD$1,980 (RM8,320). Interested?
