Hennessey Performance, the tuner famous for toying with muscular American cars, will be laying its hands on the Honda NSX, known as the Acura NSX in the US.
As announced on its website, Hennessey will be offering a wide range of 2017 NSX twin-turbo engine performance upgrades including an upgraded twin-turbo system, stainless steel exhaust upgrade, intercooler upgrades, light weight wheel upgrades and more. No further details, for now. The Acura NSX is priced from $156,000 (RM609,927) before options in the US.
The stock NSX is powered by a Sport Hybrid Power Unit, comprising a 3.5 litre twin-turbo V6 – producing 500 hp and 550 Nm all on its own – as well as a 72 hp/146 Nm pair of electric motors at the front and a 47 hp/148 Nm Direct Drive Motor mated to the engine. Total output stands at 573 hp and 645 Nm, sent to all four wheels through a nine-speed dual-clutch automatic.
The NSX is finally entering production (late April) at the Performance Manufacturing Centre in Marysville, Ohio. Built exclusively for the hybrid supercar, the global manufacturing facility builds the NSX completely in-house, and is designed around the car’s multi-material body and aluminium-intensive spaceframe.
