In November last year, Mercedes-Benz Malaysia (MBM) introduced dedicated charging facilities in Bangsar Shopping Centre as part of its initiative for a comprehensive EEV strategy. The Mercedes-Benz branded charging stations in BSC consist of three charging bays in the complex’s car park, each employing a 3.7 kW Wallbox charger with a Type 2 connection.
The brand’s charging infrastructure is set to be expanded with further charging facilities in Sunway Pyramid and Pavilion KL, and the company says these will be operational soon.
Charging at all locations is free and available to all brands, not just limited to Mercedes-Benz plug-in hybrids such as the C 350 e and E 350 e, according to MBM VP of sales and marketing Mark Raine.
“We are delighted to offer the use of our charging facilities at BSC, Sunway Pyramid and Pavilion Kuala Lumpur to our valued customers who drive Mercedes-Benz plug-in hybrid vehicles, alongside presenting it as a warm welcome to new fans into the Mercedes-Benz family who are still driving vehicles of a different brand,” he said.
“With this in mind, we are entirely convinced that all users of our charging stations will exercise due consideration and etiquette to allow as many Mercedes-Benz fans as possible to benefit from these facilities,” he added.
So there it is, if you have a plug-in hybrid or EV that can utilise the Wallbox, there are no issues doing so, whatever brand your ride may be – the thing to remember is of course to use the space only if you’re actually charging your vehicle and not hog it as a parking lot.
now thats good marketing…instead of placing your ad over a volvo showroom
Useless, pipu dun use EV cars yet
Mesidis, P1, Geely, VolvoCar, VolvoTruck, Lotus will be generous. China will be generous.
Mercedes way to happiness: It is better to give than receive. A warm welcome to new fans into the Benz family who are still driving vehicles of a different brands.
some just take all the time and never give back
thou shalt not steal. but Malaysia’s inflation rate & costs of living hits 9-year high so its ok
Great job Mercedes, hopefully more companies will follow suit
As usual lots people will abuse these facility as “parking space” instead of “charging space”. chargEV already facing the abuse issue
I always see a myvi using the klcc charging bay
Yup. the myvi owner wears merc f1 t-shirt
There is a very easy solution to any abuse of the facility.
I forsee abuse of the facility.
If you’ve been looking in fb, many BMW and Volvo already use them.
Volvo is fine to use, they are part of Mercedes’ shareholder.
BMW is oso fine to use, they are part of Mercedes’ countryman.
Very good to see someone like MB getting the ball rolling with charging bays in a mall car park. An ideal place to recharge while the customer spends a few hours in the mall. We need to now see other car manufacturers joining in on the plan.
EV/ hybrid cars are still in their relative infancy, however over the next few years this initiative really needs to expand in a very meaningful way.
Kudos to MB in making a start.
If BMW plug in it’s reverse charge hehehehe… just kidding. Good job Merc!
Terima kasih MBM. May they sell more cars in 2018. Just wondering, does MBM have plans to bring in a PHEV GLC?
Mercedes-Benz charging stations in BSC consist ONLY 3 charging bays & its FREE. Hehehe. I’m sure complaints will be coming in later on those who parked there for long hours especially if its a BMW or Volvo.
Later pipu will bash BSC for subsidising the rich with preferential parking and free charging…
Of course have to park long hour as to charge the PHEV need at least 3 hours to fully charge. Some more people goes to shopping complex not just for drinking a cup of coffee for 10 minutes and then exit.
Kudos to MBM for providing this service.
While we are on the subject of EV and hybrid vehicles, may I make a suggestion to the good people of paultan.org.
I think it would be interesting to have an update on the amount of EV/hybrid vehicles on the road in Malaysia. As an example, perhaps every three months get an updated figure from the government department on the number of new hybrid cars that have been registered in that period and the current total at that point in time.
I think many people will be surprised at the uptake over the next 12 to 24 months.
Just an idea to consider, guys.
Thanks.
What are the chances of finding such parking spot at BSC, when normal parking spaces are as rare as double-horned unicorn….
It’s my fault for not able to afford e merc….sigh
Need to limit to 3 hours or to vacate upon completion of charge. Otherwise some people will be parking for long period even though charging is completed. This is typically seen at Empire Gallery Charge Station run by Charge EV at VIP Car park area.
Yes, that white BMW330e. Please email to ChargEV for that. Let them revoke his/her card.
The charging bays were closed when I went to BSC earlier today for refurbishment works. Not sure how long has it been closed.
