C205 Mercedes-Benz C-Class Coupe facelift debuts in Malaysia – C200 and C300 AMG Line, from RM347k

The introductions are not quite over just yet for the facelifted Mercedes-Benz C-Class here, because following the premiere of the W205 sedan in both regulation and AMG C 43 forms earlier this week, it’s now the turn of the C205 C-Class Coupe facelift to be introduced.

The refreshed coupe makes its local debut in two variant forms, the C 200 and C 300, both in AMG Line guise. Like the sedan, the revisions to the coupe’s exterior is quite minimal – changes are led by a new front bumper and updated headlights, and the rear LED tail lamps feature new light guides.

The AMG Line route means that both variants feature a diamond radiator grille with chrome pins as well as an AMG-specific front apron and corresponding AMG wheels.

Interior changes mirror that found on the sedan – there’s a new steering wheel, and the instrument cluster is now fully-digital, with a 12.3-inch LCD screen offering three display styles, these being Classic, Sport and Progressive. The size of the central console display has also been upped, now a 10.25-inch panel.

Both cars are powered by the automaker’s new M264 engine, in different displacement capacities. The C 200 Coupe is equipped with the M264 E15 DEH LA, a 1.5 litre twin-scroll turbo unit offering 181 hp (184 PS) at 5,800 to 6,100 rpm and 280 Nm of torque at 3,000 to 4,000 rpm.

The 1.5 litre unit features an EQ Boost 48-volt electrical system incorporating a belt-driven starter/alternator, which provides 13 hp (10 kW) and 160 Nm of boost to fill in the gap when the turbo is building up its boost.

Paired with a 9G-Tronic nine-speed automatic transmission, the C 200 manages the 0-100 km/h run in 7.9 seconds and gets to a top speed of 239 km/h, a shade slower to the century from standstill compared to the C 200 sedan (7.7 seconds), but shares an identical maximum speed.

The C 300, meanwhile, comes with the larger displacement M264 E20 DEH LA – the 2.0 litre twin-scroll turbo unit offers a maximum power output of 255 hp (258 PS) at the same rpm as that on the 1.5 litre engine, a 14 hp increase from the 241 hp (245 PS) available from the M274 seen previously on the pre-facelift.

Maximum torque remains unchanged at 370 Nm, but is now available from 1,800 rpm compared to the 1,300 rpm on the M274, peaking at 4,000 rpm. Equipped with a 9G-Tronic transmission, it does the 0-100 km/h sprint in 6.0 seconds, just a fraction slower than the C 300 sedan (5.9 seconds) and has a 250 km/h top speed.

The AMG Line specification dresses up both interiors with Artico leather for the upholstery, dashboard and door beltlines as well as Nappa leather for the steering wheel and open-pore anthracite oak wood for the trim elements.

Standard equipment on the C 200 Coupe AMG Line includes LED high performance headlamps, 18-inch AMG five-spoke alloy wheels, Keyless Go and an Agility Control suspension. Also to be found is a reverse camera, an Audio 20 GPS infotainment system as well as smartphone integration with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support.

The C 300 AMG Line adds on Multibeam LED headlamps with adaptive highbeam assist plus, 19-inch AMG five twin-spoke alloy wheels and a sports suspension, along with a panoramic sunroof and surround view camera. It also bumps up the infotainment kit to a COMAND Online system and Burmester surround sound system.

Standard-fit driver-assistance and safety equipment on both variants include active parking assist, blind spot assist, active brake assist, and seven airbags. The C 300 adds on a lane tracking package and active lane keeping assist into the mix.

The fully-imported Mercedes-Benz C 200 Coupe AMG Line is priced at RM346,888, while the C 300 Coupe AMG Line goes for RM416,888, both on-the-road without insurance.

Financing options are available for the C-Class Coupe, with Flex-C financing offering a variety of packages. Until December 31, all Flex-C financing contracts will include a complimentary first year tyre and rim insurance package.

  • So it’s a C180 with a C200 price tag right guys? Dulu dulu c200 is 2.0, but now we want it to be much more economical to run and so we slap in a 1.5, but cos it’s names C200, eventually we still charge u a C200 price.

    What is the c180 replacement?

    Good marketing

So I guess maybe next time BMW will “hopefully” not mislead ppl like wise.
