Petronas Primax 95 with Pro-Drive – Mercedes-Benz and BMW owners share their feedback on new fuel

Petronas introduced its new Petronas Primax 95 with Pro-Drive back in January this year, promising to provide customers with a smoother drive, improved engine response and enhanced fuel efficiency.

These deliverables are possible due to a specially developed petrol formula that features a new multi-functional additive package, which includes the world’s first dual friction modifier. The company touts lower frictional losses by 20% when compared to its previous formulation that only uses a single friction modifier.

The formulation also consists of a double dose of synthetic detergents to eliminate up to 99% carbon deposits, while keeping injectors clean. Furthermore, a new anti-corrosion additive provides double the protection for engines to ensure superior engine performance.

To validate these claims, we at paultan.org, together with Petronas, invited owners of Mercedes-Benz and BMW vehicles to try out Petronas Primax 95 with Pro-Drive for themselves by taking part in the Experience to Believe (E2B) convoy drive.

Petronas Primax 95 with Pro-Drive – Mercedes-Benz and BMW owners share their feedback on new fuel

With modern vehicles (some being hybrids) requiring high quality fuels to be able to operate at their most optimum, the E2B drive served as a good platform to determine if regular vehicle owners would be able to feel the difference with Petronas’ latest RON 95 petrol formulation.

As far as responses go, the general consensus among the E2B participants was a smoother driving experience while behind the wheel. Meanwhile, some users even claimed to gain better fuel economy with no sacrifice to engine performance as well.

Have you tried the new Petronas Primax 95 with Pro-Drive? Do you share the same sentiments as the E2B participants? Let us know your experience in the comments below.

With RON95 now pegged at RM2.08 , the Petronas Primax 95 is a no brainer choice. Kudos to Mercedes Petronas F1 and Government

Not due to RON number but due to Direct Injection type engines they used. Much like Mazda SkyActiv, they all need Euro5 & above fuels.

As an part time of Grab driver, Previously used Caltex Techron RON95 (full tank) and got 120 KM of range under 1 bar of fuel reading, with this new Primax I achieved extra 5km~10km of range (125~130km) with 1 bar of fuel reading with same style of driving & acceleration behaviour, felt less of engine noise when cruising too. In your opinion, what is the most fuel efficient petrol out there? How does the perron 95 compare? Thanks

Last time I fueled my car with Petron back in 3 years ago, felt no different in term of performance/fuel economy, thus switch back to Caltex for full time (back then my primary fuel was Caltex)

Then Petronas launched this new Petrol, I tried it and stick with it till today, what can I tell is, compared with Caltex Techron, the engine noise is reduced slightly (when idling & driving) while performance is good without felt any sluggishness claimed by others, still my car could achieved top speed of 200km/h on Hway as usual

Stick with RON95 is enough, no need to fancy with RON97 and above unless the engine is performance oriented, there will be a retard timing when the engine detect low RON grade of Petrol to adjust the engine performance

Petronas fuel is the worst. Sluggish and low mileage most of the time. Prefer petron. While it is not exactly rocket fuel, the feel is certainly better and consistent.

Errr when they’re given Petronas t-shirts to wear, it’s hardpressed to believe their unbiased opinions.

Mercedes & BMW owners care about getting free T-shirts to worth their bias? What a laugh!
