Sime Darby Auto Connexion (SDAC) has launched the new, limited edition Ford Ranger Splash, which will be the first pick-up truck available exclusively on Lazada, in conjunction with e-commerce site’s 11.11 Shopping Festival. Only 19 units of the Ranger Splash will be offered, and you can see it in person at the Ford showroom in Petaling Jaya.
The Ranger Splash is priced at RM138,888 on-the-road without insurance, which includes a three-year/100,000-km factory warranty and five-year/100,000 free maintenance package. If you want one, it will be available for pre-order through Lazada’s Chup Dulu function, where from October 28 to November 10, customers can chup a unit by paying a non-refundable deposit of RM139 – this is 10% of the RM1,389 booking fee – via the Lazada app.
From there, they will need to checkout and pay the balance of the booking fee (RM1,250) on November 11 to secure their booking. SDAC states that once the final booking fee payment has been made, the full amount of the booking is refundable should customers change their mind.
If you decide to proceed, buyers will be contacted by a Ford representative to complete their purchase at their preferred showroom. To sweeten the deal further, the first 11 buyers who complete their booking process via Chup Dulu will receive a RM500 Petronas gift card upon successful vehicle delivery.
So, what do you get for the sum? Well, the Ranger Splash is based on the existing 2.0L XLT Plus Automatic variant, but gains a number of extra goodies. On the outside, the standard Absolute Black finish is complemented by “Ranger Splash” decals with fluorescent treatments on each side. There’s also a kangaroo bar, front grille, side mirror covers, rear bumper, sports bar, alloy wheels and fender flares, which are all finished in matte black.
The equipment list also gets a bump with a built-in toll reader and a 360-degree around view monitor. This adds to existing features like automatic HID projector headlamps with LED DRLs, an eight-inch SYNC 3 touchscreen infotainment system, dual-zone climate control, fabric upholstery, keyless entry and start, Electric Power Assisted Steering (EPAS) and an Easy Lift Tailgate.
Similarly, the engine is a 2.0 litre single-turbo four-cylinder diesel unit that serves up 180 PS and 420 Nm of torque. Drive is routed through a 10-speed automatic transmission and a four-wheel drive system with on-the-fly switching between 2WD, 4WD High and 4WD Low.
