Ford Mustang Fastback and Convertible Euro

Last week, Ford revealed details of its Euro-spec versions of the 2015 S550 Ford Mustang, which will begin selling on the continent from July. Now, the first images of the European variants have come about – the photos you see here were shot by Brit pixman James Lipman, commissioned by Ford of Europe.

As in most global markets, the sixth-gen pony car – which was unveiled in December 2013 – will be available in fastback and convertible bodystyles in Europe. These will be available in six-speed manual and automatic transmission forms, with 5.0 litre Coyote V8 and 2.3 litre EcoBoost turbo four powertrain options.

The power output of the European Mustangs differ slightly from their American siblings – the 5.0 Coyote has 421 PS (415 hp) and 530 Nm, which is slightly less than the 435 hp and 542 Nm in the North American car. The Euro-spec 2.3 EcoBoost, meanwhile, will have 317 PS and 432 Nm of torque, a slight increase over the American output of 310 hp and 434 Nm.

Performance-wise, the 5.0 litre V8 fastback with a six-speed manual transmission manages the 0-100 km/h sprint in 4.8 seconds, while the 2.3 litre EcoBoost fastback manual does the same run in 5.8 seconds. In terms of fuel efficiency, the 5.0 litre is good for 13.5 litres/100 km, and the 2.3 litre, 8.0 litres/100 km.

All European Mustangs will come equipped with a Performance Pack, which includes uprated brakes, a gauge pack and a revised ratio limited-slip differential. The Euro cars should also be Premium models, given the availabilty of a four-gang toggle-switch pack, which controls four selectable drive modes (Normal, Sport+, Track and Snow/Wet).

Standard equipment will include 19-inch wheels, automatic HID headlamps, dual-zone climate control, LED tail lamps, a rear diffuser as well as a nine-speaker sound system and SYNC 2 voice control connectivity, complete with an eight-inch colour touchscreen.

Additional options include climate control seats and premium 19-inch wheels with a luster nickel finish. European consumers will be able to pick from a choice of 10 exterior colours, including the exclusive Competition Orange and Triple Yellow tri-coat.

We’ve of course driven the S550 Ford Mustang, which is coming to Malaysia later this year.

Comments

  • You can tell that the 6th ten mustang has become more of a modern European sports car than a true American muscle car when the muscle car purist hates it.

There are plenty of hardcore mustang out there. Why need to hate this one? This is towards better future and good for euro nation including us! Good for the business as well to expand their brand to customer like us!
