Modern Gentleman production begins
The first new “Modern Gentleman” cars have rolled off Nanjing’s assembly line in Nanjing, from a factory that Nanjing managed to piece together using the robots and assembly lines they bought from Rover.
The first two new models from Modern Gentlemen are the MG7 Saloon and the MG-TF sports car. Nanjing’s new factory can produce 200,000 cars, 250,000 engines, and 100,000 gearboxes annually.
Nanjing intends to keep the original British flavor, however it’s future direction from MG will be the Chinese market. However, it also intends to sell the cars around the world, but China is the major market. Some Modern Gentleman cars will also be produced in Longbridge, UK as well as Ardmore, Southern Oklahoma, with the latter to begin soon next year. MG originally stood for Morris Garages.

Hope MG can survive in China but not as same as M’sia…
Globalization make the tremendous competitive environment for car manufacturers… there is a prediction that only 5 car manufacturers group will survive in the future.. hehe.. who know???

Modern Gentlemen? Aren’t they also targetting this car for the women also? The name is so gender biased and not appealing enough. Should be named Maximum Grunt, Motor Grandeur, Mobile Great, Majestic Grand Turismo.. LoL.

MG didnt only ‘not survive’ in Malaysia.. MG didnt survive anywhere in the world.
nicecar, to predict only 5 manufacturer “groups” is probably true, and its not only happening today, but in the past already.
take a look at car manufacturers of the world, not including China of course.. they are all already interconnected.
All japanese car manufacturers are partnered up with someone, except for toyota. all european car manufacturers are also partnered with someone or the other except for some small niche car makers who remain independent… same goes with the americans, koreans, australians.. and even proton is now on the verge with partnering another large car maker. Just looking at the list of car makers on the right hand side of the screen, and you will start to see how everyone there is connected. The indians of course, are generally independent, because they sell cars that their own market needs, and its a darn big market, for now anyways.
so its nothing new really.

oops.. you’re right paul, i also just remembered toyota just collaborated with 2 other european manufacturers to come up with a ‘mini’ car right? i think one was peugeot, the other.. i forget.

Wow… MG also been in financial crisis before and they sold it, now they are coming back in a vengeance to win the china market… hope their cars will reach Malaysia one day.. i like this cabriolet car..

toyota has done with holden australia to have toyota lexcen, basically a holden commodore rebadged
whereas , holden has rebadged the toyota corolla as a holden nova,

MG TF…. seen lots here in UK.. small.. but very nice looking car. Many MG and Rover cars still run around UK. Lets just hope the Chinese ppl doesn’t re-design and turn it into something funny… LOL… and please… Modern Gentleman.. what the hell…
