The Suzuki iM-4 small crossover concept debuted alongside the iK-2 concept at the 2015 Geneva Motor Show last March. Since then, the iK-2 has evolved into the 2016 Suzuki Baleno, and it now looks like the former will reach production too, if these leaked patent images from alVolante.it turn out to be legit.
Based on the set of leaked patent application images, the showroom-bound model’s styling will not be too different from the concept shown in Geneva. It’s slightly less bizarre, sure, with smaller wheels, conventional lighting and rear gills instead of side vents, but it’s still a looker nonetheless.
It is rumoured that the iM-4 will complement the Suzuki range as a small crossover buddy to the Celerio hatch. As to when it will reach production is yet unknown.
In concept form, the iM-4 is sports a 1.2 litre DualJet engine that is mated to an integrated starter generator (ISG) with a lithium-ion battery that sends power through an all-wheel drive system. Under the skin, Suzuki says the iM-4 sits on a “new-generation” platform, designed to improve rigidity while reducing weight.
