We’ve all seen these types of races before, haven’t we? Setting off later than the rest, as usual, the Formula 1 car beats all of its challengers by the final corner and wins the race. But let’s be honest, these car vs. bike races are too fun to pass up, no matter how many times we’ve seen them.
David Coulthard, no stranger to these events, is back and at the wheel of a 2012 Championship-winning Red Bull Racing RB8 Formula 1 car. Trying to upset DC’s chances here is Guy Martin, Tyco BMW competitor in the British Superbike Championship. He’ll be on his BMW S1000RR-derived rocket.
This time, however, the rules of the challenge are a bit different. Rather than boringly have the F1 car set off a little later than the bike and have all of it over in just over a minute, DC will attempt to finish four laps of the Silverstone circuit before the bike can finish three laps.
Still think the F1 car wins this hands down? Watch and find out for yourselves.

An F1 is not a car, its an airplane on wheels while the superbikes/motogp rules dictate that the bike must resemble a normal sportsbike.
Its should be a sportscar/world touring championship car vs superbikes/motogp’s bikes instead. Both cars & bikes looks like the one we have plying the streets. Unless motogp rules permits the bike to look like an airplane with all sorts of spoilers/wings to create downforce for a fast cornering…this kind of head to head does not make sense. hahahahaha …just my two cents!
I thought the Kawa H2R is an airplane with two wheels.
2.28 Oh I miss that sound so much!
Fu*^$#@ Bernie thinks that everyone is as old as him.
Yeah rite.. I miss the high rev NA engines from the older F1 cars..
These days those 1.6L turbo sound like crap.
crz, you have to accept that if you look at all the comments on other sites like youtube where similar F1 versus whatever bike, the biking fraternity never accept that a race car beats a race bike. Its almost like Apple vs Samsung (flagships). The main point is that both machines represent their respective ultimates eg. fastest, the most accelerative, their most competitive and successful. According to keen gp followers, the gp bike will destroy any race car (in many situations)
I do agree that it is not an truly even match. Humans however, love doing the vs thing. eg. would the baddest MMM fighter beat the baddest (similar weight and height) WBC champion – Will a male lion beat a male Siberian Tiger etc. etc.
