With the government’s move to set the goods and services tax (GST) at zero percent, many buyers are aware that they can save plenty from buying a car. But if you are planning to buy a Volkswagen, the savings from not having to pay GST are only the tip of the iceberg.

In fact, until June 30, Volkswagen Passenger Cars Malaysia (VPCM) is also adding rebates starting from RM2,000 for the Tiguan, rising up to RM4,000 for the Polo and Passat Highline. Next, the Vento Highline gets a RM6,000 rebate, while the Jetta Highline and Vento Highline can be had for RM8,000 and RM10,000 off, respectively. The Passat Comfortline and Comfortline Plus get the largest rebates on the list, at RM15,000.

But that’s not all – there’s also be a petrol card worth RM1,188 for all models, as well as interest rates as low as 1.68% on the Vento and Passat, and 2.8% on all other models, based on a nine-year loan tenure. Accounting for a 10% downpayment, that means that the Vento Comfortline can be had for just RM678.25 per month, which works out to a saving of RM5,180.40 compared to the same car with GST applied.

Buyers can save upwards of RM10,000 when they choose the Passat, Tiguan, Beetle Sport and Golf R-Line, while the Golf GTI can be had with a saving of RM15,890.13. At the top of the list sits the Golf R, which gets a RM19,270.53. Offers are valid while stocks last.

As of January 1, all Volkswagen models come with a three-year maintenance programme that covers all maintenance costs as per the standard maintenance schedule, with the exception of wear-and-tear components such as brake discs, pads, windscreen wipers and bulbs. As such, buyers can expect worry-free driving for the first three years or 45,000 km of ownership.
