Honda Malaysia delivers the 100,000th Jazz hatchback

Honda Malaysia (HM) celebrated a milestone today by delivering the 100,000th unit of the Honda Jazz to its owner. The occasion was marked by a handover ceremony at the Ban Lee Heng Motor dealership in Seremban.

A global model, the first-generation GD Jazz hatchback was introduced here in 2003 as an imported offering, and it continued as a CBU with the second-generation GE, which first appeared here in 2008. A total of 18,000 CBU Jazz were sold.

HM rolled out the CKD Jazz Hybrid and Jazz Petrol in 2012 and 2013 respectively. Since then over 80,000 units of locally assembled Jazz have been delivered to Malaysians.

The current and third generation GK has been around since 2014, with a mid-life facelift surfacing in mid-2017. Sales of the current generation stand at over 75,000 units as of May 2019, making it the most successful generation by far (over 15k for GE and over 10k for the GD). With a market share of 62% (based on HM’s own figures), it leads the non-national compact hatchback segment. Malaysia is also the only market outside of Japan to assemble and sell the Jazz Hybrid.

“We celebrated the 130,000th customer for Civic last month and with the Jazz today, we have recorded another important milestone. We want to thank all 100,000 Jazz customers for their unwavering support in making this milestone possible. The trust and belief in our brand has allowed us to serve all our customers better and made it possible for us to maintain our leadership position as No.1 in the non-national segment and No.2 in overall as of May 2019,” said MD and CEO Toichi Ishiyama.

“The Jazz has captured many hearts over the years. It is a compact car designed to be fun, versatile and practical; meeting the needs of customers from different lifestyles. The Jazz attracts a wide group of customers, which varies from young executives to college goers and young married couples,” he added.

The lucky 100,000th Jazz owner, which only wanted to be known as Kelvin, was gifted a ‘Protection Package’ by HM. The package includes Ultra Body Coating, Ultra Window Coating and wheel lock nuts by Honda Access Japan. The package will be available for all from July. Kelvin also received a free Mugen accessory package as a token of appreciation.

Many young graduates will save their money or mati mati must buy this car than spend on a cheaper Iriz. This is because Honda never give problems.

Honda Jazz is a successful hatchback in the world, no wonder millenials like this game changing car. What happened to the so-called game changing Iriz? So many huhuhahaha when Iriz first launched but until today, sales is dissapointing… Already lose from Honda, Iriz also still cannot beat the game changing Myvi

Time for Honda to refresh the Jazz. Tested both the Jazz and the Yaris and the Yaris has so much more features and looks more modern. Handling is better too.

  • Honda again. Haiz. Nothing to be proud of. Not surprising the car breaks apart in less than a year.
The so called MUGEN ahbeng parts on Mr Kelvin’s car will be stolen and sold somewhere online for sure. Wait and see.
