The latest fuel prices in Malaysia are in – the ministry of finance has announced the retail prices for the coming week of May 26 to June 1, 2022, and the coming week charts a new record high for RON 97 petrol in the Malaysian market.
While last week’s RON 97 price hike was relatively marginal at a two sen gain compared to the week before it, the latest update sees another hike of 37 sen to RM4.70 per litre for the premium grade of petrol.
Meanwhile, the price of RON 95 petrol carries on as it has, staying put at the ceiling price of RM2.05 per litre. as capped by the Malaysian government since February last year. Similarly, prices of diesel fuel remain unchanged, remaining at RM2.15 per litre for Euro 5 B10 and B20 blends and RM2.35 per litre for Euro 5 B7.
These prices take effect from midnight tonight until Wednesday, June 1, when the next set of fuel price updates will be announced. This is the 22nd edition of the weekly fuel pricing format for this year, and the 176th in total since it was introduced in 2019.

Didn’t the oil price almost reach USD$140 back in early March 22 while our oil price back then was RM3.75. So was that a wrong calculation or not based on weekly pricing or how does it work then?
Brent was USD$113 in Mac 2022 and today it is USD $114. Difference is then USD$1 to RM4.2 but today USD $1 is to RM4.4. The exchange rate fallen due to US Fed hike their rates by 50bp.
As reported in Paultan’s latest article about fuel and based on this graph, oil price did hit a high or close to USD$140 back in March.

A RM4.2 vs RM4.4 exchange rate doesn’t coincide with the current price when compared to USD$140 (RM3.75) vs USD$114 (RM4.70) priced currently.
RM 4.7 is still cheap when compare to our neighbors…
Our RON97 already not being subsidized. The only reason is cheaper because U’re comparing Euro4 to Euro6 in SG

People may use only 1% of income for the item but you need to use 10% of your income for so called chepaer item.
Who is fooling who. They spend 1% income for petrol coz they they do it here lah, if MCO time they also spend 10% to refuel in their own island lah. Bodoh to compare like that.
