RON97 petrol price August 2023 week one update – price of premium fuel unchanged at RM3.37 per litre

It’s Wednesday, which means it’s time again for the weekly fuel price update, with the ministry of finance having announced the retail prices of fuels for the coming week of August 3 to 9.

There’s no change in the price of RON 97 petrol for the coming week, which means the premium grade of petrol continues on at the RM3.37 per litre it was at last week.

Likewise, RON 95 petrol, which remains at its ceiling price of RM2.05 per litre as set by the Malaysian government in February 2021. Ditto for diesel, with Euro 5 B10 and B20 blends continuing at RM2.15 per litre and Euro 5 B7 at RM2.35 per litre.

These prices will take effect from midnight tonight until Wednesday, August 9, 2023, when the next set of fuel price updates will be announced. This is the 31st edition of the weekly fuel pricing format for this year, and the 238th in total since the format’s introduction at the start of 2019.

abah masih lagi PM.

It is really hard for government to reduce the price of RON97 because they keep putting huge money subsidize on RON95. I don’t understand why still many people feel government should heavily subsidize on RON95. RM 2.05 is 2nd cheapest in Southeast Asia except Brunei. Saudi Arabia RON95 is MYR 2.80, and Qatar RON95 is MYR 2.60.

It is totally okay for government to slowly increase the petrol price of RON95 to maybe until RM 2.30 meanwhile the RON97 reduce to RM3.00. This will encourage the rich people to pump RON97 instead of using the subsidized RON95. Why so many rich people still using RON95 because RON97 is 64% higher or RM1.32 meanwhile the rich people pay the most on tax compare to B40.

If you were rich people will you find it happy to see government take your income tax few times higher than normal people, at the same time force you to use unsubsized fuel? Rich people do not owe poor people in anything.

is primarily for automotive news. Surely there are other websites that can more clearly explain the reason for the government’s role in trying to narrow the gap in the disparity between the lower income & higher income groups via taxation.

governments to try narrowing the gap in the disparity between the lower income & higher income groups via taxation & subsidies, is not exclusive only to Malaysia. If one takes the time to do a search instead of waiting to be spoon fed, one will discover that governments in other countries are also doing similar actions.
