In addition to the Mazda CX-60, Bermaz Motor also previewed the larger, three-row CX-80 at the ongoing Kuala Lumpur International Mobility Show (KLIMS). Malaysia appears to be the first stop for the CX-80 in the ASEAN region.
Like its smaller sibling, the CX-80, which was revealed to the world earlier in April this year, is a member of the carmaker’s Large Product group and underpinned by the Skyactiv Multi-Solution Scalable Architecture with a front-engine longitudinal layout and rear-wheel drive.
Dimension-wise, the CX-80 measures 4,995 mm long, 1,890 mm wide, 1,710 mm tall and has a wheelbase spanning 3,120 mm. That makes it 250 mm longer, 24 mm higher and with a 250 mm longer wheelbase than the CX-60, which shares the same width.
Compared to other three-row SUVs in Mazda’s line-up, namely the CX-8 and CX-9, the CX-80 wins in terms of wheelbase. For reference, the CX-8 and CX-9 both have the same wheelbase of 2,930 mm, but the former is 4,900 mm long while the latter is 5,075 mm. This is important because the CX-80 is the replacement for the CX-8 and CX-9, which ended production for selected markets in 2023.
The CX-80 currently on display features a plug-in hybrid powertrain, which is one of several options available for the SUV. Here are the options offered in markets where the CX-80 is already on sale:

Depending on the variant and configuration, the CX-80 can be had with either six seats featuring a 2-2-2 layout and captain seats in the second row, or seven seats where the second row sports a 60:40 split-folding bench instead – the third row is a 50:50 split-folding bench.
Given Mazda’s upmarket push, the CX-80 is aimed at other premium three-row SUVs such as the BMW X5, Audi Q7, Mercedes-Benz GLE and even the now-fancy, fifth-generation Hyundai Santa Fe. Looking forward to this one coming here?

It is more sensible than CX-60 to sell here actually. Most Malaysians have this mindset that 3 rows is better 2 rows no matter what size. And Japanese auto journalists claimed the CX80 is a vast improvement in terms of quality and refinement compared to CX60
According to Mazda staff in KLIMS, CX80 is only for preview and not for salebin Malaysia. I don’t know what that means. Staff totally disinterested in answering questions.
