KLIMS 2024 – now branded Kuala Lumpur International Mobility Show; happening December 5-11 at MITEC

The Malaysian Automotive Association (MAA) has reiterated that KLIMS is back, and this time around there are date and location details, along with a change to its name.

It is now known as the Kuala Lumpur International Mobility Show, and the event is set to take place from December 5 to 11, 2024 at the Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre (MITEC) in Kuala Lumpur, as announced by the association at its full year 2023 review.

Though now rebranded, the Kuala Lumpur International Mobility Show will remain a brand-driven show rather than a sales event, therefore the same manner of proceedings can be expected, according to MAA president Mohd Shamsor Mohd Zain.

It has been six years since the show was last held in 2018, and its return was first indicated by the MAA at the 2022 review at the beginning of last year where then-president, the late Datuk Aishah Ahmad said that there was a possibility of KLIMS returning.

KLIMS 2024 – MAA confirms motor show for next year

The Malaysian Automotive Association (MAA) has confirmed that the Kuala Lumpur International Motor Show (KLIMS) will return next year, the association has revealed at today’s 1H 2023 review.

Led by president Mohd Shamsor Mohd Zain who is marketing director at UMW Toyota Motor, the MAA has only confirmed that the motor show will be held in 2024, with exact dates and details to be confirmed.

The motor show’s return was first indicated at the 2022 review by the MAA at the beginning of this year, where then-president, the late Datuk Aishah Ahmad said that there was a possibility of KLIMS returning next year. The motor show was last held in 2018.

“Motor show, maybe 2024. I hope you all (the media) will support us,” Aishah said in January when asked if there are plans for a subsequent edition of the Kuala Lumpur International Motor Show.

The coming edition of KLIMS will be six years since the last one; here’s an image gallery, and a walk-around video from the 2018 running of the motor show.

  • KLIMS 2024 – MAA looking to have a KL International Motor Show next year, six years after the last edition

KLIMS 2024? For real? There are plans. At this morning’s 2022 review by the Malaysian Automotive Association (MAA), president Datuk Aishah Ahmad said that there’s a possibility of a KL International Motor Show (KLIMS) happening next year.

“Motor show, maybe 2024. I hope you all (the media) will support us,” she said when asked if there are plans for another edition of KLIMS, which last happened in late 2018.

There are no shortage of car shows these days, but KLIMS will always be the biggest and best supported. That’s because it’s owned and organised by MAA, which is the automotive manufacturers’ club – surely all brands will support and put on a great show at their own event.

What was your first memory of the KL motor show? Mine was when I was around five or six. It was the golden era for Japanese brands, and the bubble economy created all sorts of weird and wonderful cars, crowned by some sports cars that are now legends. Mini me saw the NA1 Honda NSX, A80 Toyota Supra, SW20 Toyota MR2 and original Mazda MX-5 – all fresh in the market then – at the show, and that outing left an indelible mark on me. Bring your kids, start them young.

Remember KLIMS 2018? Spotty memory? Here’s a throwback for you – image gallery and walk-around video.
