Like the M-Class, the big GL-Class will also be renamed when it is facelifted next year. It will be called the Mercedes-Benz GLS-Class, to reinforce that it’s the “S-Class” of Mercedes-Benz’s SUV line-up.
The M-Class will become the GLE-Class, while below that will be the new GLC-Class (previously GLK). The G-Class will stand in a class of its own.
From these spyshots, we see that the updated GLS-Class will get new front and rear lights, a more upright front grille, redesigned front and rear bumpers and a reshaped engine hood.
If there are changes under the hood, they could mirror the new engine line-up from the recently unveiled GLE-Class Coupe – that could mean it could get the new nine-speed gearbox.
The pre-facelift car is available in Malaysia as a GL 400, powered by a 3.0 litre twin turbo V6. The Range Rover fighting SUV is priced at RM842,888 – a price that’s like an S-Class of SUVs indeed.

By the time Proton actually makes a Euro 6 engine, other manufacturers are probably focusing on Euro 15
S stands for slim.
