The Nissan NP300 Navara has been spotted in Malaysia, on the MRR2! We thank Adam Shaharel and Nazirah Taib for the photos. This VL-spec vehicle’s body stickers reveal some of the features on offer: 2.5 litre DDTi VGS turbodiesel engine, VDC, TCS, HSA and HDC.
Thanks to an upgraded cylinder head, the YD25 engine’s fuel economy is said to be improved by as much as 11%. Two states of tune are available globally – 160 hp/403 Nm and 188 hp/450 Nm. Seeing as our current Navara has 174 hp/403 Nm at its disposal, it wouldn’t be too much to hope for the higher tune, surely? No new 2.3 litre YD23 for us, sadly – that’s for Euro 5 fuel-and-up markets.
Gearbox choices should comprise a six-speed manual and a seven-speed auto. The four-wheel drive system is switchable on-the-fly; non-4WD models will send drive to the rear.

We should get the new five-link rear suspension instead of leaf springs, which could do wonders for ride and handling. Rear air-con vents are a segment first, as are many other features usually found on more urban and sophisticated vehicles.
The NP300 Navara measures 5,255 mm long, 1,850 mm wide and 1,785 mm tall, with a 3,150 mm wheelbase. That makes it slightly longer and lower than its predecessor, while having a 50 mm shorter wheelbase, which affords it a smaller turning circle.
The new Mother Trucker’s appearance here suggests that its local launch is on the horizon – meanwhile, read our Thai test drive report and global reveal coverage to learn more.
UPDATE: The Nissan NP300 Navara is now on display in Malaysia – details and gallery here.

another road bully tank
Cmon Nissan, speed auto? That’s so 10 years old technology.. Should learn from the hailat, 4 speed AT FTW!
And who needs VDC, TCS, HSA HDC? Got TRD Sportivo bodykit enough.. Learn from Toyota please..
ETCM will still be cheating Malaysians. Like their pricey X-Trail, this car will also come with 2 airbags.
Our lives not important ETCM?
nice line of sarcasm..still ppl been cons into buying hailat ,even other pick up truck brand offer a lots better nowadays..especially in borneo wher they stil have this absent minded mentality..buy wht is popular withou making research…panthetic
Don’t blame the ppl of borneo if they r still choosing hilux compare with other brand. Hilux is more reliable and lasting in the poor road condition like plantation & logging roads. Few had tried other brands but they shift back to hilux esp big companies.
The Hilux killer. Sam Loo will get less sales commission.
she will just blame proton and all the hardship will fade away :p
she?
Yeah SHE. Who said Sam Loo has to be a guy?
For all we know Sam Loo could be Samantha Loo!
Now you call roadbully…when banjir besar…this type of vehicle is being call for use in misi bantuan….
Better buy one before the government decides to tax pick up trucks the same as sedan cars. The same thing happened for 4WD vehicles some time ago when the Kembara was newly launched.
if kembara using leaf spring on rear..it will cheap..using multi link + 4wd= tax it
woah… cant wait for this truck to arrive…!!! love it from every aspect… bye Hilux!
multi link on rear ..price cost twice ..like fortuner to hilux..
Since when our Govt specify 4WD cars by whether its leaf spring or multilink… pls check up your fact before spouting
then 4wd SUV is cost twice than 4wd truck..
i don know since when.. but it got different between this two suspension setup to the cost..
just like road tax for 4wd is different from my state and penisular..
You are right. The difference is the tax. Pick-up trucks do not have the same Import Excise Tax as do SUVs. Otherwise, they would be priced almost the same.
can anyone spot the coil spring at the rear wheel?
I do believe the new Navara will come with two rear suspension types. The coil springs for higher spec models while the leaf springs for commercial models such as the King Cab and Single Cab. Coil springs are more towards comfort while the leaf springs will cater to load carrying needs of commercial use.
At 188ps, it won’t be the most powerful pickup (that honour goes to the Colorado Muscle). But it will certainly be the most sophisticated on sale. With the new Triton and T6 Ranger facelift on the horizon, 2015 will be an exciting year.
From what I understood from the earlier article on the NP300 is that the leaf spring rear is for countries like Thailand which differentiates a pick-up from other cars by its suspension. If it has leaf springs, it’s a truck. If it has coil springs, it’s a car. The load capacity for both leaf and coil ar the same.
The difference between the two types of suspension is its mass. Leaf springs tend to be heavier than coils which affects the unsprung weight of the vehicle. A lighter unsprung mass gives a better, more comfortable ride.
I’ve learnt the importance of having VSC in a hard way. My Hilux skidded into a big drain. Even it is less than 2 years old. I will sell it for the sake of my family safety. It is interesting to have better choices in 2015 with new safety features. Toyota is sure a big NO to me now.
if the one in the pic has the coil spring setup , then the rear definitly has the higher ground clearance than the leaf spring…i actually prefer the current gen looks with its macho front , but this one definitly has the spec n more sophisticated …
Oh.. Not the cummins…
ok la….but me not interested.
