Petronas sponsors some of the top racing teams in the world, and celebrating the return of the Fiat Yamaha Team to its “home away from home” race, the national oil company kicked-off its 2010 Petronas MotoGP Carnival over the weekend. The nine-day event at the Esplanade in KLCC will run until Sunday 10 October. This weekend, Sepang plays host to the Malaysian round of the MotoGP.
The highlight of the carnival will be the special appearance by 2010 MotoGP championship leader Jorge Lorenzo of the Fiat Yamaha Team today (6 October) from 5.30 pm. Also making an appearance at the carnival is Malaysia’s very first Moto2 wildcard rider, Md Zamri Baba the following day. Lorenzo is favourite to win this year’s MotoGP. He leads the table with 297 points from Dani Pedrosa’s 228. The latter crashed in Japan last weekend and fractured his collarbone.
The two Yamaha YZR-M1 bikes of Valentino Rossi and Jorge Lorenzo will be on display throughout the carnival. Other activities include a safety riding clinic by Hong Leong Yamaha and performances by local artistes. Daily trivia and contests offer visitors a chance to win attractive prizes. Buying VR46, JL99 and Petronas-Alpinestars merchandise gives fans a chance to win autographed Jorge Lorenzo and Valentino Rossi helmets. Tickets for the Malaysian GP will also be on sale.
THis event any racequeen? i want to test my new super DSLR ahem…
from this picture, it is not the two Yamaha YZR-M1 use by VR & JL in the motogp.
it is only the regular Yamaha R1 with VR46 & JL99 decals and paintwork.
everybody know that la..
haha..u guys are sharp la…:)
why can’t the parking system be improved and more teratur? every year the same! all over the place!! pakai hemtam saja!!! How to attract full-house!! mcm kat Valencia and San Marino or Essen? Buat apa promo here promo there when the “event experience” like s***?? Get to the ROOT of the problem and not just try to sell the race!! Kalau kereta ferrari kurang satu tayar pun tak leh jalan gak, even if it’s RM10mil!!
But then again… maybe 25k on race-day is considered good turnout already by SIC… standard la kan… that’s how “high” we aim in almost every thing we do… asalkan better than zero dah cukup… sad!
Go tell SIC and give suggestions la. This article is about Petronas event in conjunction with MotoGP. They have nothing to do with SIC and the organisation of the race. Btw, it is good to complain but also must give SIC ideas to solve the parking problems.
wow… amazingly well-informed…
25k on race day? you ARE joking right? F1 this year attacted slightly less than 100k people… last year F1 in sepang attacted some 75k+ people (and that is during a financial crisis)… to put this info into perspective, MOTO GP traditionally pulls in a bigger crowd…
moral of the story? get your facts right before just shooting your mouth and sounding dumb…
u want to talk about essen or san marino? the people there support their sporting events… not like here where people like you… who probably have not been to sepang… just complain unendingly…
“MOTO GP traditionally pulls in a bigger crowd…”
Q: So traditionally in MALAYSIA, what’s the size of the MotoGP crowd on race day? Pls enlighten
“not like here where people like you… who probably have not been to sepang… just complain unendingly…”
I’ve been to the Malaysian MotoGP at least 3 times, twice to cover it for a local daily & the last time last year…
there u go… so that’s what “dumb” sounds like huh… i’ll take it
dam right !
where’s the M1?…thats just 2 R1 on display?
rossi46, come to KLCC and have a look… the two bikes on stage are the R1 in the team livery…
they also have the M1s here… been here for almost 2 weeks now… but do not think it is the real bike lah… maybe either last year’s bikes or spare bikes…
oh, M1 also have… that’s great! i will be going to klcc this saturday!
