Our kind of thunder. Something powerful approaches. #BMW #BMWM

BMW Malaysia has teased a new model on its Facebook page. The still image is of a blue car’s twin five-spoke wheel, with big brakes and a blue M caliper. Do turn up the volume, as there’s a nice engine soundtrack to be heard. “Our kind of thunder. Something powerful approaches,” the caption reads.
This mysterious model is of course the BMW M2 Coupe, the smallest member of the M family. Revealed in October last year, the M2 is powered by a 3.0 litre closed-deck, single-turbo, direct-injection six-cylinder engine producing 370 hp and 465 Nm of torque (overboost to 500 Nm available). Power goes to the rear wheels via a six-speed manual or a seven-speed M DCT dual-clutch auto.
The pocket rocket does the 0-100 km/h sprint in just 4.3 seconds in auto form (Launch Control available), or 4.5 seconds if you shift yourself. Top speed is an electronically-limited 250 km/h, but you can unlock an additional 20 km/h with the M Driver’s Package. There’s also an Active M Differential (0 to 100% locking), M compound brakes and M Dynamic Mode.
Compared to a regular 2 Series Coupe, the M2 sports quad tailpipes (with an electronically-controlled exhaust flap system) and wider fenders to accommodate the increased track. Plenty of Alcantara inside, plus sports seats, an M steering wheel and shift lever. The default rims are 19-inch forged alloys with Michelin Pilot Super Sport tyres – 245/35 in front and 265/35 at the back.
Quite a machine, which you can read about in detail here. Also check out the M2 Coupe as a MotoGP Safety Car, with optional M Performance Parts and in the virtual Need For Speed world. The M2’s predecessor, the 1 Series M Coupe, retailed for RM509k when it was launched here in 2012. Stay tuned.

Looking to sell your car? Sell it with Carro.
Units are limited worldwide so how many were reserved for Malaysia?
If u got the money, it does not becum a limitation
The one car that is overshadowed by the m3 and m4
it should be the other way round..it overshadow esp. the m4 for better performance with 2/3 the cost
BMW 235iM sudah RM450K, guess this beast would shoot up to RM550K!!! but those can afford sure enjoy this machine. Enjoy to “lucky” owners…….. Hopefully BMW Malaysia offer manual too and not only DCT.
Just shut-up dan take my money!!!
I would say this is a cooler choice vs the m4 or m3 which look too ‘common’. The 2 series is more rare on the roads. Plus, reviews indicate it’s quite a beast to drive.
Just how is this going to make me more excited then say a CLA AMG 45? I doubt BMW can price this car cheaper…
The best looking BMW car available that comes with the performance as well. I need to hit the lottery to afford this baby.
Only 5 unit available here. Price aprox 500k.
