A lorry transporting sand rammed into 14 cars along Jalan Duta (now known as Jalan Tuanku Abdul Halim) yesterday evening. However, unlike previous reports involving indiscriminately parked vehicles and frustrated heavy vehicle operators, this is a little different.
According to reports by News Straits Times and Harian Metro, the driver of the lorry was said to have lost control of the 10-tonne vehicle when its brakes malfunctioned while travelling downhill.
As a result, the lorry rammed into cars in the fourth and fifth lane along Jalan Duta. The severity of the damage is pretty self-explanatory based on images posted by Twitter user @PdudeSpencer and video coverage by Harian Metro.
Thankfully, no casualties were reported, according to City traffic police deputy chief Deputy Superintendent S. Markandan, who added that the case is currently being investigated under Section 43 (1) Road Transport Act 1987 for reckless driving.
Looking to sell your car? Sell it with Carro.
yeay total lost. new car…
wow that’s one solid lexus!
The Lexus right after that “solid” Lexus though.
Its an A8L lol. What an unlucky car!
technical problem. but, there might be no chance of technical problem if well maintain and do a routine inspection, and also dont forget hire trained driver. ignore safety to save cost? better think again.
It could be negligence from the driver also, if he had forgotten to release the parking brake the hydraulics would be too hot to function. Training is definitely not in the top list of Malaysian companies.
To me, its almost always the drivers fault until you can actually prove that the brakes don’t work.
Preve win
Put the Preve at the back, see who win LOL
preve still win , I got collection
year of the lorry..
Ban lorries above 5 years old and mandate they go for a monthly check…..what the hell, how can such nonsense happen in our public roads.
Thank God nobody got hurt. But this is too much, brake failure or not, the driver and his ‘company’ should pay for all the repairs and insurance.
This is why I said “Malaysia is not ready for a vehicle end-of-life scrapping scheme”. JPJ and Puspakom can’t even be bothered to reinforce their road worthiness standards, let alone raise them. These are the people who think “2 airbags and ABS is enough to pass”, that is why so many companies can get away with poor safety standards, even now in 2016.
Also, physically damaging cars (indiscriminately parked or not) is the most immature and despicable of solutions. What did the car ever do to you ? It’s the selfish drivers who need to kena.
What JPJ or PDRM should do to fix indiscriminate parking is to work with third party towing companies, starting with Klang Valley and Penang. These towing companies should be granted the right to tow any indiscriminately parked vehicle (even police and Datuk cars) to the nearest compound where it will stay until the owner pays the fine and claims it. For every double parked car/ fake OKU/ etc. they tow, the towing company gets a commission (not from taxpayer money, but from the fines of the car owners).
If you don’t want your vehicle to get towed, then don’t park indiscriminately, no excuses will be entertained (unless if it’s a massive emergency). As simple as that. If JPJ or PDRM is already doing something like the above, well, then they should double or triple the number of tow trucks.
Nowadays lorry has limited brake, cos to save cost, aso lorry driver has no brain anymore.. just push down the gas pedal lock to the floor.. they like to kamikaze by death. proven of brave malaysian on the road. yehaaa… JPJ cannot tahan ma.. tonto give hard warning.. lu kacau wa kasi molotov cocktail at ur house.. hahaha..
