In a previous interview with former Proton chairman, Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad, it was revealed that a next-gen Proton Exora will only arrive after the launch of three other models in 2016, namely the new Persona, Saga and Ertiga-based MPV. Now, Theophilus Chin has created this render of what a new Exora just might look like.
Clear hints of the new Perdana can be seen at the vehicle’s front fascia, albeit adjusted to suit the shorter nose found on the MPV the render is based on. This includes the entire grille section, headlamps, fog lamp enclosures and even the sculpted hood.
At the back, the long tail lamps of the current Exora has been replaced with those sporting a similar design to that of the Perdana. A chrome trim piece links both rear lighting units here, with the Proton logo intruding partially into it in the middle.
Finishing touches here include additional chrome elements at the bottom of the side windows, roof rails and alloy wheels lifted straight off of the Perdana. Overall, the design of the Exora here is a radical departure from the “boxy” look of the current model, with a more “organic” appearance.
