PLUS announces 20% rebate for electronic toll payments this Christmas, public advised to follow TTA

In conjunction with the Christmas holidays, PLUS highway users on the North-South Expressway (NSE), North-South Expressway Central Link (ELITE) and the New Klang Valley Expressway (NKVE) will be able to enjoy a 20% toll rebate when making electronic toll payments.

The discount is offered to Class 1 users travelling more than 100 km on any of the mentioned highways on December 25 (Sunday) for the entire day, and paying toll electronically via PLUSMiles cards, Touch ‘n Go cards or SmartTAGs.

However, the public will still be required to pay the normal rate on the day, with the 20% rebate (in the form of a toll reload) being redeemable when they top up their electronic cards at all PLUS customer service centres between January 15 and April 14, 2017.

Additionally, the toll rebate does not apply at the following toll plazas – Tanjung Kupang, Bukit Kayu Hitam, Bangunan Sultan Iskandar and Penang Bridge. PLUS is expected the traffic flow on the NSE to increase by 14% to 1.6 million vehicles every day between December 23, 2016 and January 3, 2017, and urges the public to follow its recently-issued travel time advisory (TTA).

The TTA consists of recommended travel times to various major states and cities in Kedah, Perlis, Penang, Perak, Melaka, Negeri Sembilan and Johor from the Klang Valley. It aims to reduce congestion on major highways, toll plazas and rest areas during peak periods.

The 20% rebate looks good. The fine prints (how to claim, eligibility etc.) will ensure that not everybody eligible will get it.

Is just way too confusing and unnecessarily complicated. Just just us a schedule and than a Christmas/Holidays greeting.

Classic case of form over function. Someone just went to town with the graphics and forgot about its purpose.
