The Chinese New Year holidays will soon be upon us, and PLUS Malaysia is looking to ensure proper traffic distribution and highway operations so the public can enjoy a smoother journey on major highways like the North-South Expressway and ELITE Highway during the period.
“We anticipate 1.6 million vehicles will be plying the NSE on every peak day during the festive season. The figure translates to a 15% increase as compared to the number of traffic on a normal working day,” said PLUS managing director, Datuk Azman Ismail.
According to the company’s records, it expects traffic on the NSE will be at its peak on January 26, 27, 28, 29, 30 and 31, as well as on February 4 and 5. Azman explained that PLUS will offer toll rebates on selected dates and issue a travel time advisory (TTA) as part of efforts to distribute traffic on these peak days.
For the toll rebates, Class 1 vehicle (those with two axles and three or four wheels excluding taxis) owners paying toll via PLUSMiles cards, Touch ‘n Go cards and SmartTAGs on the NSE and ELITE highway will be eligible to receive a 50% toll rebate.
However, the rebate is only offered only to those paying toll between 12am and 6am on designated dates – January 27 and 30; February 3 and 4. Additionally, the toll rebate will not be applied to toll transactions conducted at the Penang Bridge, Tanjung Kupang, Bukit Kayu Hitam and Sultan Iskandar Building toll plazas.
The rebate will not be given on-the-spot, and users are still required to pay the normal toll rates before the rebate is credited into their electronic cards (in the form of toll reloads) when they top up their cards at PLUS customer service centres between February 15 and May 14, 2017.
As with other festive seasons and long holidays, PLUS has also issued a TTA to assist the public in planning their journey. “The TTA enables us to distribute traffic and prevents vehicles from converging at the same locations and time which contribute to traffic congestion on the mainline,” said Azman.
For this year’s TTA, PLUS advises those planning to travel back their hometowns in Perlis, Kedah, Penang, North Perak and Johor to enter the highway before 12pm. Meanwhile, those heading towards destinations such as Selangor, Negeri Sembilan, Malacca, South Perak and Central Perak are advised to start their journey and enter the NSE after 2pm on the designated days.
Aside from these two initiatives, PLUS will also assign more personnel during the CNY holiday period, including more PLUSRonda teams, PLUSLine staff and maintenance staff. It will also cease all highway road pavement and maintenance works between January 26 and February 5.

Haiya..just give free toll on every public holidays lah apa susah..atleast can lessen the congestion lor
Thats the problem with MY pipu. Alredi gip 50% and still wan more. Greedy knows no bounds, deswai better dun gip anything free to MY pipu.
not everyone got free money like u bro. pls try to understand the sufferings of the rakyat
Actually tolls can be FREE if corruption is sorted out. Every year billions are pocketed. Even normal gomen servant can keep RM50 mil in RM50 notes in his almari. Just imagine politicians.
If we clean the filth in Malaysia, even tolls and GST can be abolished for good.
Pls give discount ON THE SPOT..instead of waiting to redeem at certain dates…many times totally forgotten!!
SETUJU…PLUS….kenapa dulu oleh ON THE SPOT REBATE….NOW CANT NOTT HAAAA…
PLUS not sincere ….not sincere in giving discount want us to travel at midnight. I better take a good rest than your 50% discount not worthy.
Up to u. A lot of pipu balik kampung during midnight cuz its cooler, less cars, cheaper of course, and can arrive in morning.
subaru spotted..
problematic rebate kasi susah orang saja.
Its looks like wanna give, but not really generous and calculative.
No need rebate lah. I can afford the toll anyway. I just follow my own convenient time.
Mau rebate but tnc berterabuh.. simpan la duit ko tu.. mau rebate kena pergi office amek lagi
My friend was caught driving on emergency lane sometime back and was told to appear in court and was fined rm2k. Many people salary only RM1200, how to pay haiahh. 2 years ago mixed rice price 3.80, now mixed rice price 7.60 . discount negative 200% lah
50% at 12am until 6am.. good.. travel at night no congestion. less people travel, less people got the rebates.. good PLUS!
Why the rebate is only offered 2 those paying toll between 12am & 6am on designated dates ??! If U want 2 give, do it for all dates(27 to 4 Feb) & Times & not selectively. Bengang Betul.
because the main purpose behind giving discount is to reduce congestion during peak hours. not to ease the burden of commuters. stupid people like yourself don’t understand.
Pls fine MORE for using emergency lanes. The jam is because all of them cut in again and again causing bottlenecks.
Plus can keep their discount, make so difficult to get rebate…like beggars. just give discount on the spot, now all computerised. Talk only.
If we enter highway between 12am – 6am, then exit the highway after 6am, is that means we’re no eligible for the 50% tol rebate? Can anyone clarify. Thx.
Yes. Somebody please clarify this!
