After the LS 500 in Detroit and the LS 500h in Geneva, Lexus is set to unveil the new LS 500 F Sport at the upcoming New York International Auto Show (NYIAS). According to the carmaker, the F Sport will “present the most engaging LS driving experience yet, and will be available on the LS 500 and LS 500h.”
This sole teaser image is all that was provided to go along with the announcement, where we get to see some minor changes compared to a standard LS 500 like a gloss black diffuser, tinted taillights and F Sport badging.
Lexus also say the F Sport versions of the LS “will capitalise on the platform’s responsiveness and agility” to deliver what was promised above, referring to the sedan’s new Lexus Global Architecture – Luxury (GA-L). The platform is the stiffest that Lexus has ever developed, and is claimed to offer enhanced handling, ride smoothness and cabin quietness.
The fifth-generation LS is available with a 3.5 litre twin-turbo petrol V6 (415 hp and 599 Nm of torque), while the hybrid version gets a 3.5 litre naturally-aspirated V6 petrol engine with Dual VVT-i and direct injection (295 hp and 350 Nm of torque) assisted by two electric motors. The hybrid also comes with Lexus’ Multi Stage Hybrid Transmission, which combines a four-speed automatic with a traditional hybrid continuously variable transmission (CVT) to recreate a 10-speed transmission.
