2019 Proton Exora RC: updated MPV debuts tomorrow

Earlier this month, it was reported that a refeshed Proton Exora was on the cards, and its arrival has now been confirmed – according to a post on Proton’s Facebook page, the latest iteration of the MPV is due to be officially launched tomorrow.

It’s the third update for the model, which has been around since 2009 (the Bold version made its debut in 2011, followed by an enhancement two years ago), and so the rework isn’t expected to be comprehensive, as the teaser clip released by the automaker reveals.

The Exora gets the new instrument cluster as seen on the 2019 Iriz and 2019 Persona facelifts, and as expected, there will be a new head unit like that found on the Iriz and Persona, complete with ‘Proton’ lettering on the lower section of the frame outline.

The new seven-inch touchscreen system, based on Geely’s Global Key User Interface (GKUI) unit found on the X70, comes with the “Hi Proton” voice command system and a 4G internet connection, which allows for online music streaming and live traffic updates.

The Exora also gets new part-leather upholstery and a new rosewood maroon exterior colour, and the clip also reveals additional chrome garnish on the front grille outlines. We’ll have the full run-down on the changes from the launch tomorrow.

This is likely to be the final set of revisions for the Exora, given that a replacement – based on the Geely Jiaji – has already been slated for production.

Well, I don’t see the point of Proton releasing facelift for this MPV. This Exora is already game over because this MPV is aging and the design already looks outdated. Moreover, the Avanza FL with better design, safety and features already launched in here. So my suggestion for for Proton is to discontinue this MPV and learn from our second national company P2 how to make a game changing MPV. That way, Proton can become a world-class level brand competing with international brand

Avanza with better safety features? Please! The Exora has had stability control since its 2nd facelift around 2012, Avanza till now still no stability control.

Learn from P2? Are you kidding? Do you mean the game changer mpv from P2, the so called alza? its about the same age with exora. Both released back in 2009. At least exora had major update in exora bold in 2012. ‘new’ alza today is basically the same car 10 years ago. Anyway, both need new car to replace their current generation of mpv.

    • Not really necessary since the Alza competitor is still being refreshed with just 2 airbags. NO ESC, NO Traction Control, NO 4 airbags or more, NO hardened passenger cage, NO intelligent headunit. Exora as it is, will continue to outsell Alza until Jiaji comes around.

If the collaboration with geely means proton gets mere head units and accessories, I suggest proton work with Brothers instead.

i owned exora bold turbo since 2015, satisty with the package and price. problem that i faced before cold start, oil hose leaked ( my fault cos i ignore proton recall).. and that it.
Maintenance costs are very reasonable. Now mileage is at 150k km. I bet the final enhance version will be much better

Out of all the cars Proton updated recently after the Geely acquisition, the Exora is the one car that shouldn’t be updated and even exist in the market for 2019. And looking at the photos, it seems like barely touched anything other than the “Hi PROTON” thing and some interior bits.

The Aruz is already selling well here. And looking at how the Exora doesn’t seem to differ much than the earlier updates(Unless if they changed the engine or something, which I highly doubt they did), Proton might as well just discontinue the Exora and better off getting a Geely MPV to rebadge or design a new MPV from the ground up(Most likely the former if that’s ever going to happen.)

i thought saga facelift will come out first before exora facelift….. i guess it takes time to change the old dashboard of saga as they had to completely redesign it as the old one have no space at all to put an infotainment screen system

Cukup puas hati dengan Exora CFE. Maintenance amat murah berbanding MPV lain. Penggunaan santai sesuai dgn family, ruang luas yang menyelesakan. Turbo berkuasa utk gerakan swift bagi muatan penuh. Design yg descent dan tidak terlalu futuristic sedap mata memandang. Tiada istilah outdated. Harap proton continue production exora. Proton forever. Pakai sampai hancur.

  • Well the Exora still sells …eventho being 10years old it still has buyers , in my Condo there is 6 of the 2018 units ie in deferent specs …
So I see no problem if Proton still wants to refresh the Exora …hey even Toyota does it ie the Estima is already 12 years old and has about the same features as tge Exora

I thought they going to standardize the design for all models… (ethereal bow and infinite weave) This look out of place.
