Mercedes-Benz Malaysia enlists Michael Jopp as new head of sales and marketing – replaces Mark Raine

Mercedes-Benz Malaysia (MBM) has announced the appointment of Michael Jopp as its new head of sales and marketing, Mercedes-Benz Cars, Malaysia and SEA II, as of July 1, 2019.

Jopp will assume the role previously held by Mark Raine, who recently completed his four-year tenure in Malaysia, and has since joined Mercedes-Benz Korea as vice president of product and marketing.

Prior to his latest appointment, Jopp served for three years as the vice president of sales and marketing at Mercedes-Benz India. With over 20 years of experience in the automotive industry, including roles at Daimler and Mercedes-Benz in Germany, Jopp also holds an MBA from the Goizueta Business School.

“We are excited to have Michael Jopp join our Mercedes-Benz Malaysia family. With his rich industry experience and decades of expertise in sales and marketing functions, we are confident that he will be able to lead the market and maintain our number one position in the Malaysian premium automotive market,” commented Claus Weidner, president and CEO of MBM.

“Jopp will also play a key role in our customer centric strategy, taking on a holistic approach to automotive excellence by providing our customers a brand experience with our strong product portfolio,” he added.

I hope we don’t hear silly comments like MBM is same group as Proton since Geely owns 10% of MB AG Germany.

Comments such as why buy Mercedes when you can buy a Proton is absurd.

Hello, if everyone thought like this, nobody will pay a premium and buy Mercedes and BMW lah
