KTM Komuter ‘Open Mode’ gates now in selected stations – no open-close, but you still need to tap

Those who take the KTM Komuter, don’t be alarmed if the ticket gates are open before you pass through. It’s not a system error, but the company’s new ‘Open Mode’ gates.

KTM says that starting October 13, it will widen the implementation of Open Mode at its Automated Control Gate (ACG). You’ll find open gates at Kajang, Bandar Tasik Selatan, Abdullah Hukum, Kampung Batu, Kepong Sentral and Sungai Buloh stations in the Klang Valley. For KTM Komuter Utara, open gates are now at Butterworth and Bukit Mertajam.

These stations join major ones such as KL Sentral, Kuala Lumpur and Subang Jaya in having open gates. However, don’t forget to tap your card or scan the QR ticket at the gates. The gates may be open, but your ride isn’t free!

Danny Tan loves driving as much as he loves a certain herbal meat soup, and sweet engine music as much as drum beats. He has been in the auto industry since 2006, previously filling the pages of two motoring magazines before joining this website. Enjoys detailing the experience more than the technical details.
