Overview
The Omoda Jaecoo C9 is a five-seat D-segment SUV, offered with petrol or plug-in hybrid power. It suits buyers who want a larger SUV than the usual C-segment choices, with the option of all-wheel drive or a PHEV setup. In Malaysia, the C9 starts from RM168,800.
C9 in 2026 — what's new
For 2026, the Malaysian C9 range has grown beyond the original petrol FWD and AWD variants with the launch of the C9 PHEV. The PHEV brings a 1.5T petrol plug-in hybrid setup with 537 PS and 650 Nm, plus 145 km of WLTP EV range. A Matte Black Limited Edition also joins in limited units at RM191,800. The 2027 facelift has been shown in China as the Exeed EX6, but that is not the current Malaysian C9.

Which variant to buy
Most buyers should start with the Omoda C9 FWD at RM168,800. It uses the same 1,998 cc, 257 hp petrol powertrain and conventional automatic as the RM188,800 AWD, so the RM20,000 gap buys the all-wheel-drive layout rather than more power. Take the AWD if extra driven wheels matter to you. The RM208,800 PHEV is for drivers who can charge regularly and want the 537 PS/650 Nm plug-in hybrid setup with 145 km WLTP EV range.

Omoda Jaecoo C9 buyer's guides & reviews
Verdict
The C9 makes most sense if you want a large five-seat SUV with a big boot rather than the lowest entry price. It measures 4,775 mm long and has 660 litres of luggage space, rising to 1,783 litres. But Proton X90, Jetour VT9, Leapmotor C10, Chery Tiggo 8, Mazda CX-8 and Chery Tiggo 9 all start below it. The PHEV is the tech draw, with 537 PS/650 Nm and 145 km WLTP EV range.
