Lexus developing lightweight IS-F Evo

Lexus is rumoured to be developing a more track-oriented lightweight version of the Lexus IS-F, which is seen by some to be too tame to be a competitor to the Audi RS4 and the BMW M3. Obviously inspired by lightweight editions of it’s competitors like the M3 CSL, the new lightweight version is to be called the Lexus IS-F Evo, will use carbon fibre bodywork and have it’s interior stripped out. 0-100km/h acceleration times are expected to be under 5 seconds.

Evo? Duh, better be more creative with names here. How about engine and running gear? Well, if they are only making it lighter, maybe they should try Lexus IS-F Diet :)

the name evo or evolution is not a new name for performance cars. one of the all time great rally cars, the lancia delta integrale EVO used that name years back before mitsubishi became a household name in rallying.

BMW & Mercs used the moniker EVo or Evolution even earlier,- back in the late 80s on the 190Es and M3s ..

    another desperation case.

claiming the territtory of the M3? the holy land of the most respected M3?

dont even think of sharing. you will never. you must be kidding man.

well, outside chance maybe. but still, discard that double-doubled exhaust. very-very weird and very-very bad. and also the side vents. awful.

and hey, drop that Evo thing. gimme face la bro..

As was said by some above, the EVO moniker was used by plenty of other people before the Mitsubishi Evo came around.

Anyway, nice to see that Lexus are trying to break the stranglehold that the Germans have on the uber saloon market. Who knows they may just succeed? They've certainly got the resources.

Go back several years and people were laughing at Lexus' attempt at the luxury car market. Guess who is laughing now? Never say never.

    Pretty cool look.

But the quad-pipes do look a bit odd.

Would really love to see how it actually peerforms against the RS4 and M3.

Hmm … a Lexus Evo – I could live with that.

    Cheers!

Compare this car with M3 and RS4 is like compare a chicken with an eagle.
