This is Toyota’s answer to the Golf R32 – the Toyota Blade Master G! The Japanese market Toyota Blade loses it’s 165 horsepower 2.4 liter inline-4 and gets a new heart – a detuned version of the 3.5 liter 2GR-FE V6 from the Lexus IS350 putting out 276 horsepower and 344Nm of torque. This is matched with a 6-speed sequential automatic gearbox with paddle shifters.

The Blade Master G’s specs should make it’s way into the European market soon as the top of the range version of the Toyota Auris to have a showdown with the Golf R32.

    3.5liter just hatchback body?fuiyooooo

Anywayz this car is a FWD with a V6 engine if i not mistaken.. Maybe the weight of the engine may coz this car easier to oversteer? For a engine that big size should be 4WD or RWD..

aiyah why detuned version…..should have been the stock 300+hp for more oomph….and i do hope thats not the real picture of it…..no styling/kits for that kind of monster is gonna be boring…..need more powah + look stylo.

I suspect this car will be great only in the straight line. a FWD + 3.5L V6 = lots of nose heavy understeering.

Moreover, Toyota is never known to tune suspension for an engaging drive.
So picture this, on the corner, a car with 2L or less will shoosh pass this car while it struggle to find ways to get rid of the understeering.

    Cheers.

kind of a disappointed with toyz.
why blade master does not equip with AWD for better handling?!
why it does not equip with 2GR-FSE motor as the IS350 for better performance and fuel economy?!
it is not way to get close to R32 4WD.
but is it true US market will get AWD version of it?!

This is by far the coolest name for a car, like ol’ skool hip hop artists; Grand Master Flash, Ice-T, Public Enemy & now we have Blade Master G! Unfortunately this car is uncool despite having a cool name.

A Yaris by any other name…

Maybe Toyota Blade Ali G for the US market. Definitely not for UK coz it sounds like an Islamic extremist and drivers of such would be shot for resembling a Brazilian. Uh the car maybe a bit taller than initial indication. Have you seen a Golf GTI recently? Its huge and they still call it a hatch?

Clarkson’s gonna have a field day with this one.

the 2.0 Blade is kinda overpowered….. and here comes another 3.5 V6 monster……

Where got Golf R32 here in malaysia… got is it? I tot GTI only?

rosdi, just coz VW malaysia doesnt bring in the R32, Naza can always do so if they wish. We have plenty of strange cars in malaysia as it is.

but its strange to see toyota trying the ‘big engine’ in the small car routine. its something the conti-car builders have done many times.. alfa, bmw, mercedes…etc.

but FWD is a real pain in the neck, especially with so much torque and weight over the front wheels.

give me Right Wheel Drive anyday ;)

    its 2.4L already had 4WD
    http://toyota.jp/blade/dynamism/engin/index.html

so its not hard to produce a RWD/FR version…
maybe it would called as BLADE MASTER G2!

transformer name for toyota now? Front Lexus IS250?

  19. Bumbaclut said,

Nah, this car will get AWD. And no this is not from a detuned is350, it is the transverse version without direct injection like the Camry’s.

276hp FWD toyota ……… considering that sort of power would already made a sub 1400kg RWD wheel spin like no body’s business, this is a pure joke for a FWD.

Once the excelleration momentum builds up, the car’s inertia weight pulls to the back of the car, front portion rises a bit, less weight on wheels (less forced-traction on tyres to road surface) SUPER DUPER USELESS UNCOOL FWD WHEELSPIN.

Great job TOYOTA! The other turn off is the 3.5 V6 engine in a Toyota Auris …. duh….

I’d still want a Golf anytime, this one’s just a Yaris with a bigger (and heavier) engine, right?
