Mitsubishi Lancer gets Volkswagen turbodiesel

Lancer

While waiting for Mitsubishi’s 4-cylinder turbodiesel for C-segment vehicles (announced by chairman Takashi Nishioka at the 2007 Detroit Auto Show) to be ready, Mitsubishi has temporarily given the Mitsubishi Lancer a Volkswagen 2.0 TDI engine.

The turbodiesel Lancer is available in India amongst some other countries. The Volkswagen turbodiesel uses Pumpe Duse injection (one pump for each injector) as opposed to common rail (a single pump for the common rail), and produces 140 horsepower at 4,000rpm and 320Nm of torque at 1,750rpm.

This engine is interesting because in some aftermarket applications its been known to be able to produce slightly over 200 horsepower.

frequencymaniac: it’s wira 2.0D…one of the model offered by proton long time ago. short-lived model..due to lack of sales..the the car is not turbocharged..normal diesel only..lack of power..old diesel tech.

Easily expansive for proton, and not sure why would they want to do it as they have their own engine anyway.

frequencymaniac:i dunno abt that..u can just pop up the hood and look for turbine inside the engine. some ppl sed that police car is modded..but whenever i see police car..i see only drum brake at the rear..(except for waja, gti and v6)..so, if the car is powerful, why the use drum brake? and i only see standard exhaust piping on their gti and waja.

    p/s- i thot police use wira 1.5. huhuhu~
