Volkswagen Golf R and Scirocco R on a track

Volkswagen

Can’t decide between a Scirocco R or a Mk6 Golf R? This promo video featuring both the cars won’t help you make that decision – both look equally good painted in the same blue colour scheme having a bit of fun on a race track.

Personally in terms of design I’m kinda leaning towards the Mk6 Golf R instead. How about you? That’s besides the fact of course that the Golf R actually has an all-wheel drive system while the Scirocco R still have to put everything through the front wheels.

With every generation there’s supposed to be improvements all-round but I think one definite part where the Mk5 R32 has an edge over the new Mk6 R is the fact that the R32 probably sounds so much better – there is just so far that a 4 pot can go. Wonder why they didn’t lump the 5-cylinder from the TT-RS into this baby instead.

Check out the video after the jump.

    Golf for sure.
    AWD and leaner look.
Rocco looks flattened like a hamburger.
    Sexy hatchbacks rock.

Yeah, give me the Scirocco any day. Prefer the interior and exterior as well. One of the fresher designs from the Wolfsburg manufacturer in the last couple of years, very nice…..Besides, who says you can’t use FWD layouts for high power applications? It’s lighter than AWD and less weight means better dynamics. Hasn’t anyone here read the reviews for the latest 300bhp Ford Focus RS? Pfft…..how often do we need AWD anyway?

Very desireable duo from VW, can we have it at a desireable OTR $ in MY .
It is the diesel version coming along to MY? MK6R is my choice .
    Side track abit:
Anyone still remember APs issues : Exemption AP requirement for students studying abroad or for My expats , can anyone bring back their wheels after graduating or contract expiration ? Shed some light some one ? TX

If they can price it under RM300k would be a strong competitor to much more expensive BMW 135i. Finally and afordable German car to compete with the like of the EVOs and STIs.

    both r awesome !!!

if u already hv a MKV Golf….certainly Scirocco will b d next choice

for 1st time buyer, Golf would be more applicable due to family type – 5 doors

I think they have kidnapped the designer from Porsche, the bumper of the vw is just like the Porsche cayanne turbo. Haha
but the car is really cool, actually my short term goal afer graduate is to get a Volkswagen golf GTi.

Golf R if the price is around RM250k-270k it will be a good buy. Hope it cheaper than previous R32. Since the engine capacity is smaller, the tax might be lower than before. I choose R20 over Scirocco R. Agree with others if I buy both, Scirocco R is for “her”.

look at the tachometer red line only at 6500 rpm. must be the engines are long strok type that unable to revving high. not good for people who love to modify the engine for extra power.

should utilize the MK5 R32 engine, and add-on twin turbo with strengthening some parts inside the engine, and also include 4Motion system, then tune it become over 350HP, or if possible, make it reach 420HP, with a name of GOLF R42.

Wow, should be damn nice!!! and sure can challenge the nissan GTR.

    Only 420hp ?

Why not take the 1000hp Golf ?

Both are equally scrumptous. The sirocco is a very sexy car. Pity it does not yet have the AWD and the 3.2 V6.

The GTI is , well, a GTI. Looks very much like the “normal” GTI , save the twin pipes, R32 style. AWD is wonderful.

AWD is the way to go for a quick run up to Fraser’s or Camerons.

Please please please VW please bring on an AWD R32 engined scirocco. Maybe I would have to get both and shoehorn the V6 and drivetrain into a scirocco.

Shame the R32 is no more. Magic amplified. I’ll have to hang onto my ‘06 R32 until the scirocco grows up. Hey same colour as those two in the video.

My smile is far wider though.
