General Motors recently announced that the Opel Insignia will be sold in the US as the Buick Regal. The Insignia is currently being sold in the Chinese market under the Buick brand hence we can safely expect the US version to look more identical to the Chinese model.
The American auto giant did not disclose when the Regal will be launched in the States but the motoring fraternity is expecting it to arrive by the end of 2010 or beginning of 2011. A number of powerplant options should be offered, ranging from a 217HP 2.0 litre to possibly a 2.8 litre that can output up to 325HP. The image above is a spyshot of the US-bound model that was found on Facebook.

opel is already history, but why we dont have buick here?
is it because of LHD ?
Buick has a history of big lazy sedans. Not to long ago, thier smallest engine was the 3400 GM powerplant, with most running the 3800 Series III. That would definately not work here with our road tax stucture even if it was available in RHD.
I remember GM used to sell chevy Impala's and Caddilacs in malaysia some 10+ years ago….and even in LHD
British spec Insignia's are RHD.
I've seen several Astras running around malaysian roads.
Well if this cars was ever destined to arrive on our shore, make sure NEVER bring your pain-in-the-you-know-where wife to the showroom! (unless you are really prepared for this kind of argument in your marriage! LOL!) Watch!

A Vauxhall Insignia, 1.8L 6MT.
I've driven this car around UK and Europe for a week in August.
The ride's very good. very comfortable ride for a full load (5 people + full trunk of luggage)
a little bit under power from a 1.8, but the 6MT easily compensate with that.
been in love with the car ever since my euro trip
i've seen one in putrajaya last month
If they ever come here, then it will be a revival of Opel.

Wow, that is one scary bitch!
If they wanted to come to Malaysia, it will be under the Vauxhall logo. I've seen the Insignia real life. Looks a bit fat, but the rear is quite nice.
