Subaru to launch “crossover Impreza” at Geneva

This Subaru Impreza hatchback with off-roader style body cladding is the Impreza XV, which will get its public airing at the Geneva show next month. Subaru describes the XV as having “new crossover styling” which consist of a new front grille and wheel arches, roof rails and a roof spoiler besides the contrasting coloured panels. It will be available with the firm’s famous boxer engines, both in petrol and diesel and Euro 5 compliant. This is the only image released, so we’ll have to wait for a look at the front design.

Subaru’s Geneva stand will also have the good looking Hybrid Tourer Concept (as seen in last year’s Tokyo show) and the kei-car sized Stella plug-in hybrid.

this is a waste and IMO, a silly move. So then, whats the purpose of the Forester?

xOvers are just silly cars with zer0 off-road capabilities.

    just my 2 cents.

History repeating itself. Their Outback and Impreza Wagon models were a big hit to estate owners and long distance drivers alike. But yeah. When the Outback came out, they released that grey plastic cladding onto the car as well.

If anything, this model is supposed to give more practicality and versatility but without the weight of the Forester/Legacy wagons perhaps?

US & Europe customers prolly will make more use of this first.

    What joke?

This is not the first time Subaru doing the Outback/Outback Sport version of their models. Previous Imprezas & Legacys came with this version too. They must been good seller & well accepted versions (I believe US & Australia are the big market for this model) that Subaru repeat them again with the current models.
