Formula E teams receive their Spark-Renault electric race cars – inaugural season starts in September

The FIA Formula E Championship is gradually building up to the new series’ first race in Beijing this September. An initial series of development tests at a variety of circuits in January allowed the car’s architecture and systems to be checked, and the first batch of electric Spark-Renault SRT_01E racing cars have now been delivered to the championship’s 10 registered teams at their new premises in Donington, UK.

“It was no mean feat, because this is the world’s first small-scale production-produced single-seater electric racing car to deliver such a high level of performance. To have succeeded is another illustration of the passion that fires the teams of experts who work at Renault Sport, as well as of their grasp of advanced electric vehicle technologies,” said Patrice Ratti, GM of Renault Sport Technologies.

Famous F1 name Alain Prost, co-director of the French team E-Dams, and also an ambassador for Renault, was at the British circuit for the landmark delivery. Renault also took the opportunity to present the keys of a Renault Zoe electric car to Alejandro Agag, chairman and GM of Formula E Holdings.

Malaysia will host a round of the 2014/2015 FIA Formula E Championship, which will see the SRT_01E electric racers zooming around Putrajaya in October. The 2.56 km-long ePrix course is located near Perdana Putra, which houses the PM’s office, and will use much of Putrajaya’s main high street. The temporary track will feature 12 corners. Cant wait for this. The current F1 races had dropped their noise pollution. Heard the Formula E will go completely silent and tyre screething could be louder huhu. The race will be like electric-RC cars. I think RC cars sale will increase right after.

it will be very interesting but can’t compare to formula one in term of awesome engine sound.

Can’t wait for Formula E. Corner 4 is right smack infront of my office! Yay! I think it will be the best corner since from corner 3 to corner 4 it will be a significant decline and from corner 4 to 5, the road will slightly incline.
