Naza launches Aprilia Shiver 750 CKD Edition – RM44k, local-assembly in Malaysia to begin early 2015

Naza Premira has launched the CKD edition of the Aprilia Shiver 750, and has announced that local assembly of the model by Naza Bikes will begin next year – production will start in January at the Naza manufacturing facility in Shah Alam.

Malaysia is the first country in which Aprilia has Shiver 750 assembly operations outside of Italy. A total of RM5 million is being invested in the development of the CKD assembly operations, with a further RM1 million set to be devoted to parts inventory.

The facility in Shah Alam is capable of producing 1,200 units in the initial year of operation, but Naza Premira is targeting a more modest volume, aiming to sell 600 units of the Shiver 750 CKD Edition next year.

Initially, the locally-assembled units will only be for the Malaysian market, but the company is exploring the prospect of increasing production capacity to between 3,000 to 5,000 units if expansion in the ASEAN region happens. The Shiver 750 CKD Edition will be the only model built here – all other Aprilia models will continue to be imported.

The naked bike, which will be available in red and black, is powered by a V90 four-stroke longitudinal 90-degree V-twin 750 cc engine offering 95 hp and 81 Nm. Novelties include a Ride by Wire electronic throttle – the Shiver was the first bike in the world to be equipped with the tech when it was introduced in 2007.

The Aprilia Shiver 750 CKD Edition is priced at RM43,888, and comes with a two-year manufacturer warranty.

I used to think an Evo/Scooby is the best “practical toy”, told myself to work hard and get one.

Fast forward 15 years, reality kicks in, mortgage burden and all, I start to think splitting up practical and toy is a wiser choice. Very happy to know there’s more bike choice out there nowadays.

At RM44k, for a 750cc Italian CKD tourer, I’d say that’s probably good news. If you take into consideration the current prices of the same category of bikes these days. Good bike too.

  • A very nice bike with technology compare to japanese bike with the same year it was born.It has 3 selectable riding mode
    1. Rain Mode – to avoid the rear tyre spin & skid in the wet condition.
    2. Touring Mode – hiway mode – fuel saving but more than enough power to overtake vehicle.
    3. Sport mode – forget about fuel saving..this is for power hunger – suitable for track days.

Seating kinda tall, but rear abs can be adjust on preload/damping to suit you.

Electronic Dashboard that will even tell you if the signal bulp need to be replace.Various info from lap time/fuel consumption/max speed can be obtain from the dashboard.

if any mechanical/electrical failure, the dashboard will display a warning and the ECU will restrict the speed of the bike for 60kmh until the issue resolve to avoid major damage.

    Nice bike.

Well, one more cheaper b ike for Malaysian, at least we know the prices are coming down. Lets hope they keep the quality, since that is the true “Malaysian” problem.

doesn’t mean everyone should. Most of them don’t even wear proper riding gear. Just an open-face sometimes full-face helmet and thats it; not even gloves or padded jacket.
