More new models from Naza’s Kia and Peugeot distributors this year

Kia Forte

The Naza Group’s SM Nasarudin SM Nasimuddin has revealed that Naza Kia, Naza Corporation and Nasim Peugeot will be unveiling a few new models this year, in addition to the CKD Peugeot 308 VTi and 308 Turbo and the CKD facelifted Peugeot 407 already launched this year.

There will be 2 new Naza-badged models, one new Kia-badged model and 3 new Peugeot models launched. The Kia-badged car is very likely to be the new Kia Forte (shown above, gallery after jump), which is said to be launched in Q2 this year. The two Naza-badged models will also be based on Kia models, they could be a new facelifted Naza Suria and an all-new monocoque Naza Sorento, based on the new facelifted Suria and the upcoming Kia XM Sorento.

A report by StarBiz claims 2 of the 3 new Peugeot models to be the Peugeot 3008 and the Peugeot 207. The 207 could be the real 207 or it could also be the 207 Compact (206+), a facelifted 206 with 207 looks, which would be a repalcement for the Naza 206 Bestari. The third model could be the Peugeot 308 CC 4-seater coupe-convertible unveiled recently, which would complete the current 308 VTi, 308 Turbo and 308 GT offerings.

although kia forte's design is (as usual) a copy & paste result of a few marques models(civic US+Audi+etc), i have to admit that its quite a decent one. If naza is to bring the model in without dropping any of its original features, i think its going to be a hit here..good luck naza

Kia Forten nice design. Unfortunately its under Naza. Very bad track record in term of after sales service, only think making as much profit 'untung atas angin', no ethic, unprofesional saleman (perhaps their boss as well).

i personally like the exterior design of the Forte… some may say it's a copy of another car here & there but wattaheck.. as long as the final product didn't look like a mutant or retarded frog then it's good enuff for me…

btw, if not mistaken it should be 206+

Kia Forte look is nice but NAZA need to be careful how they're going to price it. If more than RM80k the chance of survival is slim as that price range is too crowded with Honda City, Vios, Latio and Suzuki SX4. Don't forget to include 5 years warranty and 2 years free service too. Am I asking too much hahaha

    Kia Forte…

A civic-sized car with the price tag of the city (or vios)…

    Has a civic-esque shape too…

Should be good for malaysian car buyers. More and more choices.

If launched soon, Malaysia would be one of the 1st RHD country to get it AFAIK.

  • Yess… kia has moved one step further in terms of design. The forte looks nicer than any other current kia models in malaysia.I must say it has slowly followed european styling.Hopefully the engine will also be revised and retuned a lil' bit coz kia cars are known for petrol-hungry vehicles…

but still my main interest is the pugs.i use a peugeot car anfd it really satisfies me.pugs go pugs…

My company is using a few of the latest Optimas as fleet cars. The guys are getting 10-11.5 litres per 100km FC on it. These are full D-Segment cars, loaded with electric seats, nappa/suede upholstery, huge legroom, Infinity audio system, Electronic Stability Control, 17" Michelins (made in France), etc. Procurement/Admin Dept. did a study and the spare parts and maintenance schedules result in cheaper running costs compared to T&H competitors. Don't listen to the he said/she said stuff. New Kia's are good and are doing well in North America, Europe, Australia and NZ. In Malaysia the perception is quite low though, thanks to dealers who sell cars based solely on price and nothing else.

In Malaysia, the maintenance cost for KIA car is higher than Japanese car ( same level ). What do you think?

    kia forte is nicely designed.

but most of the korean car are high in maintenace and repairing.

their 2nd hand value also worst.

    let say… 60% loss!

Like or Dislike: Thumb up 0 Thumb down 0
  • Maibatsu Thunder on Mar 08, 2009 at 11:55 pm

No they're not. Japanese cars aren't cheaper to maintain. 2nd hand value, 1st year depreciation is 15-20%, subsequent years 10-15%. What? Someone told you cars were an investment? Better luck in property or gold dude.

It is a great car!! While the new Sorento will also be a hit in our market… Hope they will launch the Ce'ed in Malaysia also… For Peugeot, hope the 207 will be a CKD with a 75k price tag then it will be a very attractive car. While 3008 and 308CC are great options for Europe car lover… All the best to Naza and we are all aware of your effort! Good luck!

  • Hi, does anybody knows whether this car has a 5-speed auto trans.? I'm interested in 1.5/1.6 litre models equipped with 5-speed auto. Thanks.

Like or Dislike: Thumb up 0 Thumb down 0
  • Maibatsu Thunder on Mar 09, 2009 at 2:58 am

It's a 4-speed as is the Vios and Latio. Buy a Honda City 1.5L if you need a 5 A/T.

Like or Dislike: Thumb up 0 Thumb down 0
  • Ya, the only model i come to know of with 5-speed is City, we dont really have much choices of 1.5/1.6 5-speed right?
Ya, the only model i come to know of with 5-speed is City, we dont really have much choices of 1.5/1.6 5-speed right?
5AT doesn't prove to have any benefit to a 1.5 or 1.6 vehicle… Just like the new City with 5AT is not as economy as the old City with CVT yet the performance doens't improve much… So i think that an appropriate 4AT setting is good enough… Honda use 5AT in City is probably to achieve their 5AT's economy of scale… CVT will be a more suitable gearbox for a small car…

Like or Dislike: Thumb up 0 Thumb down 0
  • Ya performance wise and economy wise 5AT doesnt make a huge difference, but the vios' engine proves to be slightly noisy when it reaches 100kmh, as the rev reaches 2.5k. So im thinking with a 5th gear available, cruising at 100kmh would reduce the engine noise. Furthermore, with the engine speed remains at 2.5k during a 3 hour road trip, it hurts the engine i think.

great looks, decent performance (solely based on foreign reviews!)… but any possibility Naza might rebadge it as their own? just like they did with the kia carnival, instant drop in 2nd hand value :-(

I think you are wrong Paul. Because the Forte is rebadge. Most properly is the Kia Badge Car is Sorento R. Suria will not be a kia badged because it a small car.
