New Peugeot 206+ entry-level car for Europe

Peugeot 206 Plus

When the Peugeot 207 was released, the 206 was not retired and was instead repositioned as a new entry level car and continues to be sold in many markets, especially emerging markets such as South America. The 206 also continues to be sold here in Malaysia as the Naza 206 Bestari.

Peugeot has given the 206 a fresh look with the new Peugeot 206 Plus, which essentially facelifts the 206 to have a similiar front end to the 207 and other Peugeot models. This means larger more feline headlamps and that wide gaping mouth grille. Engine options include a 60 horsepower 1.1L petrol engine, a 75 horsepower 1.4 litre petrol engine, and a 1.4 litre HDi diesel with 70hp. The interior design gets updated with a look that resembles the 207’s dashboard.

The 206 Plus is manufactured in France for the core European market. It’s actually already available in some emerging markets, for example it is called the Peugeot 207 Mercosur in South America.

Will Naza introduce the 206+ as the facelift for the current Bestari?

The current model exterior looks are ageing fast. Naza should act quickly like what it did with the 407 facelifted model launch.

IMHO, they will introduce this car in malaysia since they seems to be clearing out current 206 by giving 0% interest loan. anyway, the design some sort like between 206 and 207. anyway, nice look.

Will be interesting to see if it will arrive in the Malaysian market as a Naza or as a Peugeot 206+.

Would also be nice to see the sedan bodystyle (Sold in Iran, South America & China) here (Creating a Euro alternative to the popular City & Vios.).

Okay, wait for 1 year plus for CBD and another 4 years for CKD by Naza.

i think it is using the same engine as current 206. have you tested / drive current 206? i think the power is enough. it is achievable at low rpm. (around 3000rpm if i'm not mistaken). and max torque are achievable at low rpm too. what the purpose of having 120hp if it's only achievable at 6000rpm. it's not like u constantly drive at 6000rpm.

The 70HP should be on the wheel instead of on the engine as stated by Japanese car manufacturers.

if it comes here, i'm quite sure nasim will retire the 1.4 (been around too long) and maybe bring in the 1.6. now would that be nicer?

The makeover really look refresh. Peugeot really putting effort on the makeover. The front look impress and the change of the dashboard make it like a all new 206. Double Thumbs up.

Can other car manufacturers follow what Peugeot is doing?

The 1.6 will be priced too high.

    The 206+ looks gorgeous.

Will this be the new model Naza is introducing this year?

Yeah, I think it looks good. Considering the Euro ride handling refinement & dynamics, its a good buy compared to City/Vios, MINUS the performance and space.

i actually do too.. and great if the engine is 1.6 (minimum the 110bhp) or if 1.4 the almost still 'new' 16V (90bhp) please… if not , it will get bashed to death by everyone.

    this 206+ is really a 'semi 207' (with 207 front & rear bumper + dashboard + interior).

and a 206+ sedan too ( if the rear portion is not ugly).

Nasim should do a market survey… fast!

but what about 207 dude? why dont just bring in the 207 as CKD? Maybe in 2010? emm… to many decision / options.. Nasim Peugeot product planning people must have a constant headache.. but a good one!

Hi…a new fan of the 206.

Correct me if wrong, if I want to buy a Peugeot 206, only the Naza 206 Bestari version is available in Malaysia and not a Peugeot 206?

Got my bestari end of jan. So far so good. Average 14.5 km/liter on urban/hway route. Achieve 170 km/hrs during my recent trip to mcca. Pickup a bit slugish in auto but combination wth th tiptronic some local car wth almost same capicity fall way behind. IMHO very comfortable easy, on my wallet and no regret. If u love continental u love 206.
