Citroen Malaysia announced a surprise over the weekend – the Citroen C3 facelift is now being displayed at all of its showrooms in the country. As always, we made the trip to bring you live photos of the latest five-door hatchback offering.

The updated second-generation C3 is making its debut in Malaysia for the first time. Its distinctive rounded shape may be familiar to those who know the original C3, which was sold here long ago. This C3 is also closely related to the Citroen DS3, as it formed the base of the lifestyle-focused three-door hatch in 2010.

It’s a stylish little thing on its own too. It looks like nothing else on the market, featuring a massive “Zenith windscreen” that stretches as far back as the B-pillars. Like on the Grand C4 Picasso, you can pull the sunshade forward to have a “normal” view out of the front.

The Malaysian-bound units come highly specced, with dual-tone 17-inch wheels fitted as standard. Single-zone automatic air-con, auto lights and wipers plus a touchscreen multimedia head unit with GPS navigation (previously seen on the DS3 Racing; not fitted on the DS3 1.6 VTi) are also thrown in.

As expected, only one engine variant will be offered – the same 1.6 litre VTi 120 unit it shares with the standard DS3 and the non-GTi Peugeot 208. As in the two models mentioned, a four-speed automatic transmission sends power to the front wheels.

The official price tag for the Citroen C3 has yet to be confirmed, but the Citroen Glenmarie showroom did inform us of an indicative price of RM105,000. If accurate, that will make it the most affordable Citroen model here, slotting below the RM117,901 DS3 (price with insurance).
